The real problem is how in decline airline quality and experience has become. Especially US-based carriers. National embarrassment if you ask me.
Even though I travel first class, KI may not go to CA this Christmas simply because I so hate the whole airline experience.
Since the courts and government force airlines to accomodate, dont you think that the government WANTS to end public air travel for the peons?

Flying in the 1960s was a real pleasure.
For one thing, people dressed up to fly. Women in dresses and men in suits. No security to speak of. Could arrive ten minutes before your flight and just check in and board and if anyone was there to see you off they could walk all the way to the gate with you.
On long flights you would get a full meal.
I quit flying when airlines became Greyhound of the air. People would travel wearing clothe as if they were doing yard work and had not bother to shower before getting on the plane.
And don’t get me started on smaller and smaller seats and no leg rooms, and a meal consisted of a bag of chips!
Don’t know how bad it is today since it has been 30 years since my last time I flew.
I understand that consumers want lower prices, and the way to get lower prices is to provide minimum service, and fill the plane with as many bodies as possible.
I am surprised no airline has offered flight were you stood holding onto a strap like in a subway car. Could squeeze more people in then. /s
