Certainly too much distance, steady state, cardio can be inefficient and bad on the joints. (unless you are swimming, 30 minutes of interval training (HITT) is plenty. In fact, if you can do more than 30 minutes of intervals then you probably aren't doing them with enough intensity. I tend to mix it up and alternate between intervals and 10k runs. Or, if I'm shredding I do circuits on the weights. The circuits are without a doubt the best at burning body fat.
Hows that working for you? Im pre diabetic and considering it.
Don’t think the lack of excess skin is from increased HGH, but, ‘Autophagy’.
I feel fantastic. Now you do have to work your way up to it, especially if you are pre-diabetic. Just try to extend your fasting period by an hour per week, until you are comfortable.
It’s basically eating an early dinner and skipping breakfast, and having a late lunch. Not all that difficult. But I’m sharper mentally, and I rarely am hungry. Now limiting carbs certainly helps because it avoids blood sugar crashes.
Yes, Autophagy makes a big difference too.
That’s what makes Keto + IF such a powerful combination.
One of the other benefits is mental. You’ve vested so much time in your fast, you are more motivated to eat right, because you don’t want to undo all that work. That’s why exercise helps too, it also motivates you to eat better for that very reason.
I’ll get you the link when I get home tonight.
I have been on the Carnivore diet 13 months now.

More beneficial than Keto and Low Carb Diets and easier to maintain. Simple, eliminates cravings and no supplements required. Lots of info on YouTube.
I’ve looked into the Carnivore diet, I just don’t think it’s something I could do long-term.
I have considered the possibility of just doing vegetables one day, and all meat the other, I think mixing things up is good because it keeps the body guessing.
Thanks Glock!
Low Carb PING!
Good story on fasting, up to 36 hours, on alternate days. Always keep in mind if you’re on meds for diabetes or pre-diabetes you do have to be very careful about fasting, as you may knock down your blood sugar too much. If not on meds, and otherwise healthy, I don’t see an issue with fasting, and many of us (me included) have done much longer than 36 hours.
I haven’t worked myself up yet to do a longer fast, 24 hours is my max thus far, I think I can do it, just need to the right time.
If you are morbidly obese and that works for you, go for it, but better to just fast for 12-15 hrs including your nights sleep. Your gut bacteria need to eat, in order to keep your immune system going, keep your moods good, and your digestion easy and trouble free.
Limit carbs, eat no processed carbs, and focus on clean animal products and natural vegetables, including root veggies like potatoes etc. Healthy fats and no sugars. No fake sugars or sweeteners. No fruit. Once youre down to a decent weight, add 1/2 fresh fruit to your day. It works. You wont crave sugar. You will enjoy your meat and veggies and stuff.
Find a good butcher who knows what they’re doing and gets their beef from local sources.
Excellent idea. Or find a ranch that your local grocery uses and check it out.
blood on fire? you mean you are hot? or you are hurting? the reason that keto is so successful is that it removes glucose from your body. for every glucose molecule, there are 5 water molecules hanging on. and that causes our body to hurt.
The first thing that I absolutely noticed after switching to keto lifestyle is the reduction in pain after 6 weeks or so. I went from not being able to sleep in my bed for more than 5 or so hours a night to craving bed time around 9 pm and waking up with unbelievable energy around 5 am.
Intermittent fasting is not a diet plan. It is a way of eating. I use 18:6 as my way of eating 6 days a week. Doesn’t fit my schedule on Sunday. I plan to try some 24-36 hour fasts and may throw them in the mix sometimes.
“I would expect that once one “goes off” this diet the body will start storing calories like crazy in preparation for the next starvation period which never come because they are no longer fasting.”
Any diet followed by returning to the way of eating that got you fat WILL get you fat again.
I refer to Intermittant Fasting as the “It Is OK To Be Hungry Diet”. To be followed by “It Is OK To Be Hungry Lifestyle”. We eat too damn much because we believe being hungry for a few hours - or a day - is unthinkable. In reality, being hungry just means we would like to eat sometime soon. That gnawing at your tummy feeling? It IS your body gnawing at the fat deposits there. And in a while, you stop and eat. If you eat a mixed meal - including unrefined carbs and saturated fat - you won’t need to keep stuffing your face for hours, won’t get terrible cravings and will be fine until you get hungry again. And then eat.
I tried the very low carb diet. Lost weight but very low carbs is boring and not needed. Eat one big, balanced meal - including some carbs is fine - once a day. Make the second meal a lower carb meal, much smaller. Repeat tomorrow. Fats are good. Protein is good. Many types of carbs are good. Just don’t eat all the darn day long!
But one of the cool things is finding substitutes for higher carb items. You can make low-carb bread or low-carb chocolate treats just using 100% Cacao and sweeteners, like Erythritol (Swerve). One of the things I learned is that it is absolutely crucial to get your Potassium, the body requires 3,5004,700 mg of Potassium per day, and the vast majority of people do not get that.
After jogging most of my life, a back injury stopped me 10 years ago. The back injury is finally good enough that I can run again. I’m up to 25-30 minutes and hope to get back to 45 minutes, 4-5 times a day. Why? Because we have trails near my house and jogging on trails makes me happy. During the 40 years I jogged daily, my joints didn’t hurt so I guess my build is good for jogging.
I’ve lost 20 lbs and my blood pressure without medicine is where it was with medicine 4 months ago. I’d like to lose another 15 lbs. I like using a “power twister” for grip strength. Started push-ups and pull-ups again (also killed by my back injury 10 years ago).
Folks need to think about what they enjoy. I like jogging (not running, not fast enough, ever). I like hiking and trail riding horses. And I think I might get pretty content doing OMAD - One Meal A Day. I’d rather have one good, full flavor, mix of everything meal once a day and snack on cheese or nuts for a nighttime snack than spend the rest of my life counting calories. Or carbs.
BTW - my wife was miserable on a low carb diet. Her smile is back eating one good meal a day plus a snack dinner. Both of us are finding we WANT different foods now that we are doing IF, and the different foods we want are very low in sugar or starches.
LOL, since I went Keto, nuts are the new chips, I really have to watch it or else I could easily consume 500-600 calories of Macadamia Nuts.
golden corral has great pot roast....it has lots of veggies....its really a terrific buffet..
