The violent, yet seemingly random, attack happened Aug. 4 in Jamaica and included the group hurling insults, profanities and even laughing at the woman – all after the group and the woman locked eyes, law enforcement sources say.
Surveillance video shows the woman struggling to hold onto her cane on 169th Street as a group of teenagers apparently tries to steal it. The group then appears to push the woman down during the attack, and while she was dazed and on her knees, not only did they steal her Samsung cellphone, but proceeded to hit her with her own cane, according to authorities.
The NYPD says the attack appears to be the work of teenagers, possibly two males and two females.

Despite what she went through, the woman said she doesn't fear those who attacked her — and doesn't want others to, either.
“I’m not afraid of them. I don’t want people to be afraid of these kind of people. I want them to step up, because otherwise it won’t stop," the woman said.
The group fled in a late model Nissan Ultima, leaving their victim behind – and residents to question not only who would do something like this, but why. Neighbors say the area has seen a recent uptick in crimes carried out by younger and younger individuals.
Police say the victim refused medical treatment, but they are urging anyone with information to call NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS or Spanish 1-888-57-PISTA. Tips can also be sent via www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
Another story I read on this reported that the 67 year old started the confrontation when she got bumped with a stroller and began attacking the two youths with her cane. It may be that there are no victims or “good guys” in this story.
And not one mention of the words “hate crime...”
Race of the perps is what you think? Yes.
Race of the victim is what you think? Yes.
No mention of a stroller, no stroller in the video.
That’s a different incident.
No, you don’t beat a 67 year old woman with her cane, even if she just beat you with her cane.
Just, no.
Government of the city and state controlled by the same party?.......Yes.....
Were they White??
More entitled black mayhem and brutality.
They were teens.........
I feel sad for our once great Nation.
Four youths thrashing one senior. Never an excuse for that.
Regardless of how it started, I’d say there ARE bad guys in this story.

It is both sad and tragic. Destructive forces are hard at work trying to destroy this country. And so far they are making progress.
Many years ago, I was sitting on a bench in front of the S&W cafeteria in Knoxville. I was a college student from out of town at the time and don’t remember why exactly I was there. I think I was waiting for a ride by one of many knoxville relatives
I was as Rush says, sitting there minding my own business, when this skinny old lady dressed all in black, hooked her cane behind my knee and told me to get up, I was sitting in her seat. Since I had been forceably removed, I surrendered the seat.
Of course, being an old lady, she needed the seat more than I did but it was an unforgettable experience
