WCSO arrests man accused of organized thefts using H-E-B app

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man accused of using stolen credit/debit cards to purchase merchandise from H-E-B using the H-E-B Go application.

The investigation began after receiving a tip from H-E-B Loss Prevention. During the investigation, WCSO detectives say they were able to identify and link Christopher Lee Hill to fraudulent transactions conducted at four H-E-B locations in Williamson County.

The “H-E-B Go” phone application is designed to pre-load full credit or debit card information. While shopping, a customer can scan items as they pull them from shelves, then pay with the app and show the mobile receipt to the employee at the kiosk.

Hill reportedly conducted a total of 102 fraudulent transactions totaling approximately $15,000.00.

Twenty-five of the transactions have been disputed by account holders and charged back to H-E-B as fraudulent.

He is charged with credit card abuse.

Not much different than the EBT cards legally issued with steak and lobster being charged.

Guess I'll be made to pay more for groceries for the store's loss.

I know people from projects and shelters.

I don’t want to pay for anything for them.

But NO ONE is using EBT cards to buy steak and lobster.

The cheapest that can fill the fridge is bought.

TV shows or exposes are not reality.

And AGAIN, I don’t give a sh.t

But I like the truth

if you think that you have never worked in a grocery store.
EBT is used for luxury food all the time, by folks who check out and go get in brand new cars.

hell around here with bottle deposits for a while people were buying cases of small waters and dumping them in the lot to return for the bottle deposit, until they changed the SNAP system to not pay bottle deposits.

And the reason I don’t feel bad is because they are mostly women who decided to screw a guy or guys like they were buying breakfast. And with the biggest zeroes they could find (which is 95 percent of the men in some neighborhoods)

And they have 3 to 7 kids.

We’re not a commune

Yes, they are. They even use them at restaurants that we can’t afford to go to.

There is a coupon scam going on now. Recently, I stood in line behind a ghetto fabulous family buying hundreds of dollars of beef jerky and candy for $12 after coupons at my suburban grocery store. Presumably they passed on the goods to someone who sells them on Amazon.

Here’s images of EBT signs at restaurants and liquor stores. Yes, liquor stores and high priced convenience stores. It’s not just “internet” hooey. Those signs are all over my county. Stand at the grocery store cash register and pay attention.

Don’t tell me about the poor. I used to be a case worker with human services and before that I placed low income people in tax payer funded jobs. I know for a fact how these people waste our tax dollars. I saw it every day in home visits and seeing them around town. Small town so you know everyone.

Our county’s one and only welfare office secretary quit after realizing the clients got more freebies than she did working 40/hrs a week. They’d whine to her they had no milk for their kids’ breakfasts and sit down with their friends in the lobby and show off their new bling and fake nails and new weaves and laughed about where they went out to party the night before. With 2 grocery stores in the county, you know what they buy.

DISGUSTING is what it is. I limit my family’s food costs to $5 per person per day to stay within the budget. I sew my own clothes except for jeans and I’m down to one pair of those. When those become totally unwearable, I’ll hit the Walmart sales rack or the thrift store. No vacation, no going out to party. But somehow they get to do all those fun things on my dime.

Are they fake coupons? Surely, the store should stop this.

Our town’s one grocery store quit accepting coupons years ago. I thought it was just them being mean because if there was a good coupon, they’d take that product off the shelves. But then they’re pretty much Venezuela with their empty shelves anyway. Thinking back, they stopped about the time of online coupons. Our tiny newspaper doesn’t carry coupons so you either had to buy a big city paper or print them out on a computer. Guessing those might be fakes so the store just stopped all coupons.

That’s reason #29,208 not to purchase from Amazon.

They always find ways of scamming the system. Before EBT cards, they’d sell their foodstamps for 50 cents on the dollar to buy liquor and cigarettes. Or they’d send their kids in to buy something that cost pennies so they could collect the real cash returned change. Back then, they were limited to only purchasing real food at grocery stores but today the stupid government opened it up to most anything.

Truly poor and jobless people, no.

What I suspect is happening, is you have "poor" people working off the books as housekeepers/nannies and such, and doing the employer's grocery shopping with their EBT, and getting reimbursed with cash.

You also have people getting their staples from church food pantries, and then buying luxury stuff with the EBT. Or having more than one EBT, either under different names, or different addresses.

One thing that's really needed is hunting down welfare fraud.

I don’t know what the deal was with the coupons. But it was an obviously shady deal going down at closing time. I walked by the perps in the parking lot and their cars were full of shopping bags already.
