A Cameroonian migrant, Esteban Azu, 37, said he paid human smugglers $8,000 to get him into the U.S. Anyone with $8,000 in Cameroon could live pretty well for a year or more there. Or this might be something to be paid off with future labor earnings in the US.
Hard to believe there are very many there who could put that sum of money together.

There has to be more as well. Do Catholic charities have outreach in these African countries to be able to arrange their travel, money dispursing, etc? Money coming from Vatican, other?
