New photos taken of a North Korean shipyard suggest the country could be building a submarine that could potentially be capable of launching a nuclear missile, a report early Tuesday said. The photos show vessels and cranes that could be used to haul a missile out to sea for launch, according to experts at a Washington-based think tank, NBC News reported. The satellite photos seem to confirm North Korean state media reports from July about a newly built submarine. “There is no conclusive evidence at the moment that this is a near-term certainty,” an expert said of a possible missile test. Once a submarine is built, it would take at least a year before it’s ready, according to an expert. “The construction and commissioning of a true SSB (ballistic missile submarine) capability would represent a significant advancement of the North Korean ballistic missile and nuclear threat and complicate defense planning in the region, given the difficulties of tracking and/or pre-emptively targeting such capabilities,” analysts said and would lower the chances of denuclearization.

Blah... This story takes a little information and twists it into more than it may be. Remember that the MSM and the left does not want Trump to succeed with NK.
Media doesn’t seem to acknowledge that the US is now building the new Columbia Class SSBNs which, in 2028, will exceed the capabilities of any boomer ever built.
North Korea already has one missile launch submarine, the Sinpo class submarine, also called the Gorae (”whale”) or Pongdae class, that is capable of a nuclear missile launch. They also have four Whiskey class subs that are reported retired, if you can believe that, that can laiunch cruise missles.
And they have numerous surface ships that have launch capacity. This is not news unless building another one is. They have enough to make a real mess now without the new effort.

And if the US submarine in question manages to shoot the North Korean submarine without them even realizing who it was, and if the North Korean submarine doesn’t get a message off saying that it’s dead, who’s going to know?
