You are never one to believe that a day resting is a wasted day. Rest only makes you stronger, smarter, and saner. *But...I still love a good road/air trip to somewhere new.* |

Influenced by parents who were strong believers in Jesus, track star Jesse Owens lived as a courageous man of faith. During the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, Owens, one of the few African Americans on the US team, received four gold medals in the presence of hate-filled Nazis and their leader, Hitler. He also befriended fellow athlete Luz Long, a German. Surrounded by Nazi propaganda, Owens’s simple act of living out his faith impacted Luz’s life. Later, Long wrote to Owens: “That hour in Berlin when I first spoke to you, when you had your knee upon the ground, I knew you were in prayer . . . . I think I might believe in God.”
Owens demonstrated how believers can answer the apostle Paul’s charge to “hate what is evil” and be “devoted to one another in love” (Romans 12:9–10). Though he could have responded to the evil around him with hate, Owens chose to live by faith and show love to a man who would later become his friend and eventually consider belief in God.
As God’s people commit to being “faithful in prayer” (v. 12), He empowers us to “live in harmony with one another” (v. 16).
When we depend on prayer, we can commit to living out our faith and loving all who are made in God’s image. As we cry out to God, He’ll help us break down barriers and build bridges of peace with our neighbors.
How can you build a bridge of peace between you and a neighbor? When have you seen your faithfulness in prayer bear fruit?
Heavenly Father, please strengthen us to come together in prayer, fully committed to loving others and living peacefully.

You know how much you need your downtime. You are never one to believe that a day resting is a wasted day. Rest only makes you stronger, smarter, and saner. You treasure your quiet time, and even when life is hectic, you find it in bits and pieces as much as you can.

You Should Spend the Day Sightseeing
You are a broad minded and curious person. You are the type of person who learns by doing.
If you want to know about something, you need to go and try it out for yourself. You love to get in the mix.
You love to explore and just see what's out there. You find a lot through spontaneity and randomness.
You know how to travel anywhere, including in your own city. You can see any old place through fresh eyes.
I can’t take a day off as I am retired. The nearest thing to a day off would be to go to work.

You Should Spend the Day Hustling
You love a day off, but you aren’t really one to partake in rest and relaxation. You prefer to work on your own thing.
You are a person with many dreams and goals. The only problem is, you just don’t have enough time to get to all of them.
You relish the opportunity to get your side hustle on, and you never waste time in going after what you want.
In fact, you may work harder on your days off than your days on. But at the end of those days, you feel extra refreshed!
I’m retired too, and just consider every single day a vacation. Sometimes I do work around the house, but I pace myself. LOL!
