Walsh expressed support for Trump on Twitter and seemed to call for taking up arms if the Republican lost to Hilary Clinton, writing “if Trump loses, I’m grabbing my musket. You in?”
Walsh ran afoul of Twitter after he responded to a shooting in Dallas that killed five police officers. “This is now war. Watch out Obama. Watch out black lives matter punks. Real America is coming after you,” he tweeted.
Walsh was one of the many politicians fooled by comedian Sacha Baron Cohen in his Showtime satire series “Who is America?” Walsh in which the actor, playing a fake Israeli “anti-terror expert” offered a solution to America’s school shootings problem: arming toddlers with weapons in a new program called “Kinderguardians.” Walsh told CNN he was duped by Cohen.
Walsh was briefly taken off the air when he used racial epithets in discussing the controversy over the name of the Washington Redskins NFL team.
In 2013, on the 50th anniversary of the Rev. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream" speech, Walsh shared his own version on radio telling listeners that he had a dream that “young black males and females graduate from high school,” and that “young black men don’t become daddies until after they’re married, and until after they have a job.”
Shortly after being elected in 2010, Walsh had a very public child support dispute with his ex-wife, which they settled in 2012. Laura Walsh had filed a lawsuit alleging that Joe Walsh owed $117,437 in overdue child support.
The Tribune examined Walsh’s driving record and found that from 1989 to 2009 he was cited for traffic offenses 17 times and his license was suspended while he was serving in Congress because his high-risk car insurance policy lapsed.

He will not make it on the ballot in many states and Trump really does not have any obligation to debate any R challengers.

Joe has no idea what it is to be a working class American struggling with a mortgage.
In fact, he has a mansion and does not even know the price and he has never even been there, but they tell him it’s nice.
I had to stop listening to him. It's like listening to CNN now. He also hates Hannity and anyone else who is supportive of the President. I can't get any inspiration from him.
I think Joe was and is someone who was always seeking some - in his eyes, political opportunity. I think that, and not any Conservative principles, is how he once became a Trump supporter. And he had so much political acumen he lost his one-term seat in Congress to a Democrat. Now he feels the media and the Dims attacks on Trumps are providing him a new opportunity. I think his depth of political acumen and intellect is very small.
Trump the way Trump can do the least for him is to say nothing about him.

Walsh was such an ass that in the GOP wave election which saw him eke out a victory the Republican party largely ignored him and did not assist his campaign. Following redistricting, the Democratic legislature gerrymandered his district to make it more friendly for Tammy Duckworth, who moved in to make the race.
It did not help that Walsh was such a kook either. Illinois Republicans did little or nothing to save his seat when the Democrats remapped their way to a Congressional majority in 2012.
