DNC Speaker: Socialism Endorsed By Constitution, Bible

'If you want to have a moral debate, bring it on, baby'

A speaker at the Democratic National Committee summer meeting Friday said if free health care is labeled "socialism" by Republicans, then they should "acknowledge that the Bible must then promote socialism."

"When we embrace moral language, we must ask does our policy care for the least of these? Does it lift up those who are most marginalized and dejected in our society? Does it establish justice? That is the moral question," said Rev. William Barber, who has spoken at several DNC meetings. "If someone calls it socialism, then we must compel them to acknowledge that the Bible must then promote socialism, because Jesus offered free health care to everyone, and he never charged a leper a co-pay."

DNC chair Tom Perez and others in audience gave a standing ovation before Barber took a shot at Republicans, saying, "If you want to have a moral debate, bring it on, baby."

"The Bible says a nation will be judged by how it treats the poor and the sick and women and the immigrants," Barber said. "The Bible says that God makes it rain on the just and unjust alike. If you want to call caring for folks socialism, then the Constitution is a socialist document because it calls us to promote the general welfare and to establish justice."

The Bible and Barber are talking about two different things...One is explaining how we should help our fellow man; the other is talking about welfare.

William J. Barber II is an American Protestant minister and political activist.

"Sadly, this stuff plays pretty well in the low IQ parts of the population."

I think it's more ignorance than low IQ. Unfortunately we are up against this evil deception that has worked for many many centuries. It's an easy sell to the ignorant masses. America is really one of the very few exceptions in all of human history. We are an anomaly and we are in very rapid decline.

God gives rain on the just and the unjust at His own expense ... he doesn’t levy a water tax on the just so he can rain on the unjust.

Wrong... The Bible teaches communalism where people help each other out of love for mankind, not communism where people must support the state out of fear of consequence.

Big difference

Not in the whole list of 10 Commandments or the Beatitudes does the Bibles say for us to stand back and let the government do things for us.

In fact, the Bible tells us that the Hebrews were told to stay away from Government (no kings, no census), but, to stick with local judges. Governments have their place, but, not doing charitable works.

Right.

Charity ... not being generous with how you vote.

Socialism is just a softer step on the slippery slope toward communism.

Socialism only works as long as there is complete certainty that everybody is equally altruistic. Giving up part of one’s share in the allotted goods that have been distributed because another has less, is held to be a good and generous thing. But only up to a point.

Not everybody is an equally good steward of the goods entrusted to each, as some will squander all, some will be miserly and bury it in the ground, and some will use the capital to build more wealth, either by ingenuity or by simple hard work in applying known principles. In the end, no matter what the starting birthright may be, great differences can develop over time by application of different talents to the same amounts of wealth.

The parables in the Bible speak to this again and again, as preservation of wealth gained in years of plenty shall be set in store for those times when famine returns, as it almost inevitably will. And as the generosity showered up on the return of the prodigal son, who has squandered everything and shows up empty-handed and broken at his father’s door, is a sign of forgiveness and altruism, the discord with the other son who stayed and labored in the vineyards and fields is the much more common human response.

Socialism does not take into account these differentials of human emotion and achievement, but continues to keep “leveling the field”, so to speak. In the end, socialism will only work through threats and punishments, essentially degenerating either into a militaristic dictatorship, or utter chaos.

Sad to see black ministers prostitute themselves and abandon the traditional beliefs of their congregations. Watching them endorse abortion, sexual promiscuity (gay and straight) and communism in order to get their chance to be in the spotlight explains why there are so many problems in the black community.

If there had been Ancient Democrats in Israel they would have demanded a bureaucracy to go around with measuring rods and make sure no one reaped too far into the corners of their fields and likewise to fallow around those in the orchards and vineyards to make sure they didn’t go back.

Oh, and we’d have had laments about how Ahab could have taken Naboth’s field for a garden to grow food for Samaria’s poor but wasn’t socially progressive enough.
