Just a little over four months, and Trump won’t be able to replace her unless he is re-elected.

Now a short blurb. “Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has completed a three-week course of radiation therapy for cancer, the top court said in a statement Friday.

“The treatment began Aug. 5. Ginsburg has had several bouts of cancer and underwent surgery late last year to remove a growth from her lung.

“This story is developing. Please check back for updates.”

Disagree.

Obama was a lame duck at the end of his second term.

Trump is neither.

Not true.

McConnell has already said he would go ahead with an appointment if a vacancy arises.

That's not true. The Biden rule is for outgoing Presidents; not one that can (and hopefully will) be re-elected.

Nope.

McConnell will still run the Senate calendar. He has already said he WILL bring forth any SC nominee before the election.

SIXTEEN MONTHS AND 28 DAYS.

Trump can replace the bitch until 12:00:01 on the day the next President is sworn in {but since that will be Trump, relax}.

Where in the hell did you come up with 4 months, are you related to paul ryan?

Piss off.

Either way we win.

Her replacement would become a campaign issue. A vote for the Rat means another Ginsburg. That oughta wake up the normally somnambulent “Republicans”.

But he won’t wait, because unlike Obama’s last term, there’s no certainty that he’s a lame duck. McConnell would be within his own definition of reasonable to bring up the vote.

How'd you like to be a newborn human being lying on a gurney in a small room listening to the drone of the two monsters,Ginsburg and Northam, discussing whether or not to KILL you? And folks like you prattle about four month 'deadlines'.

I have no idea what you are talking about when you mention 4 months. He can nominate a replacement as soon as he wants to if she dies. After that, it is up to the Senate to have hearings and confirmation. I have no doubt that if she dies and he nominates a Conservative that we will see the biggest Popcorn contest that we have ever witnessed. Stay Tuned!

“Just a little over four months, and Trump won’t be able to replace her unless he is re-elected.”

Nope. It’s a GOP Senate, with a bigger majority than when it confirmed Gorsuch and Kavanaugh. And Mitch McConnell already said that of course the Senate would have a confirmation vote if there was a SCOTUS vacancy in 2020, since the “Biden Rule,” and the longstanding Senate tradition, was that SCOTUS confirmation votes are not held in presidential election years *when the president is of a different party as the Senate majority*.

So you can unbunch your knickers. If Ginsburg dies with enough time to have confirmation hearings prior to the new Senate being sworn in on January 3, 2021, the current Senate will vote on President Trump’s nominee; if not, the new Senate would vote on it (assuming that there still are 50+ Republican, which I’m 99% sure will be the case) prior to January 20, 2021, which is Presidential Inauguration Day. The only thing stopping President Trump, even if he loses reelection in 2020 from replacing Ginsburg at SCOTUS during his first term as president is if Ginsburg doesn’t die prior to the 2020 elections.

Mitch O’Connell said he would proceed to replace a SCOTUS regardless of the upcoming election.

>>Trump won’t be able to replace her unless he is re-elected.<<

Quote from article referring to Mitch McConnell:

He was referring to how Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said earlier this year that the Senate would consider a presidential nominee to fill a vacancy on the court if one occurred in 2020.

“Oh, we’d fill it,” the Kentucky Republican said at an event in May.
