Isn’t the Brazilian rainforest destroyed and lost forever at least once or twice every few years? I haven’t been to check lately, guess I’ll have to take the media’s word for it...not like they’d lie about something like that...

no. once an area of the Brazilian rainforest is burnt and farmed for a maximum of a season or two or is clearcut for lumber that part desertifies forever because there is no organic material in the underlying infertile soil ... ALL of the organic material in a rainforest is in the rainforest itself ...

it’s what happened to the Cedars of Lebanon thousands of years ago ...

the same thing happened to the coastal redwoods of northern california; take a look at satellite pics of Humboldt County ...
