Government, at all levels, is nothing but a jobs program for the serially incompetent and lazy. Sure, there are some good people who work hard, but most are like these MCC folks, including the now-sidelined warden, that Skipper lady (who sued Eric Holder for racism and was given the MCC job as compensation).
So let’s see: Skipper ran the three-ring circus known as the Metropolitan Correctional Center.
At least some of her guards weren’t even qualified correctional officers, yet were given responsibility for keeping the one guy currently in custody in the federal correctional system alive until he could be tried in a court of law.
It looks like some of her guards were sleeping on the job, not making their rounds or circuits or patrols or whatever they call checking up on the prisoners, and then were “radioing in” (i.e. falsifying) their logbooks, saying that they had, in fact, done those checks.
Add it all up and it’s yet another example of how our government maybe shouldn’t even be trusted to tell us if it’s sunny or raining on any particular day.
And you can't fire them because "White Man Bad." And "ray-ciss."
So you have to shrug your shoulders and vaguely intone "Mistakes were made."
And thus the United States turns into a corrupt hellhole, because some people are below the law.
And it turns into a banana republic, at the same time, because other people are above the law.
And the law, frustrated from above and below, seeks to "prove" its good faith by being weaponized against the Middle Class. And making up for its frustrations by over-zealousness against the one group of people who don't deserve it, the Middle Class: the existence, trust, and functioning of which, is what differentiates successful nations from failed states.
