Statement by US Attorney William M. McSwain on the Shooting of Six Philadelphia Police Officers
United States Department of Justice ^ | August 15, 2019

Posted on 08/16/2019 7:22:57 AM PDT by rightwingintelligentsia

What I witnessed last night was true heroism by the Philadelphia police. But the crisis was precipitated by a stunning disrespect for law enforcement – a disrespect so flagrant and so reckless that the suspect immediately opened fire on every single officer within shooting distance. Only by the grace of God did they survive.

Where does such disrespect come from?

There is a new culture of disrespect for law enforcement in this City that is promoted and championed by District Attorney Larry Krasner – and I am fed up with it.

It started with chants at the DA’s victory party – chants of “F*** the police” and “No good cops in a racist system.”

We’ve now endured over a year and a half of the worst kinds of slander against law enforcement – the DA routinely calls police and prosecutors corrupt and racist, even “war criminals” that he compares to Nazis.

This vile rhetoric puts our police in danger. It disgraces the Office of the District Attorney. And it harms the good people in the City of Philadelphia and rewards the wicked.

The alleged shooter last night, Maurice Hill, is a previously convicted felon with a long rap sheet. We have plenty of criminal laws in this City – but what we don’t have is robust enforcement by the District Attorney. Instead, among other things, we have diversionary programs for gun offenses, the routine downgrading of charges for violent crime, and entire sections of the criminal code that are ignored.

The criminal laws in this City – and especially the existing gun laws and drug laws – should be aggressively enforced in order to protect the public and the police.

Impressive statement from the U.S. Attorney from the Eastern District Office. Wonder where this "hate-the-police" attitude comes from? Hmmm. . .

When there are no laws, or no enforcement of existing laws, you will have no crimes.

Welcome to Philadelphia.

It comes from Obama. He hates this country and it’s history. Everything about it Hillary maintained charge of congress, intel and the media and maintains it, while he was in. This continuing hatred of our country comes from the democrats refusal to accept that Hillary and her minions are not in the White House

They are fast, shameless and aggressive. They do not accept the will of the electorate and they flagrantly defy the law in order to regain the White House. It is going to get as bad as Hitler They will not hesitate at anything.

These cop hating thugs are Hillary’s minions

The “hate the police” attitude is part and parcel of the hate America, hate whites, hate moral and behavior restrictions, and entitlement culture promulgated by communists and socialists (really the same thing) throughout our society for generations. They sowed the wind and we are now reaping the whirlwind. I don’t think there is any turning back, but hope I’m wrong.

That’s the day the entire Police force should have given the DA 1 day to resign or the entire force walks off. Not 1 day for the DA to apologize, not 1 day to have a beer summit, have a conversation, etc. - 1 day to pack his shit and go home.

Where does such disrespect come from?

Congress can change this horror by allowing cops to arrest thugs who assault them. This is more than city law - it's some liberal court decision from years ago.

It really is time to consider dividing the country. I don't want to live in the same country with people who can spit on cops, or throw water on them or any of the other culture-killing crap liberals have inflicted on the rest of us and our country.

“There is a new culture of disrespect for law enforcement in this City that is promoted and championed by District Attorney Larry Krasner”

Soros put Krasner in.

Soros put nearly $1.7 million in Philly DA’s race

By Dave Davies June 21, 2017
https://whyy.org/articles/soros-weighed-in-with-even-more-money-in-das-race/

Billionaire George Soros put even more money into supporting the winning campaign of Larry Krasner for Philadelphia district attorney than the $1.4 million previously reported.

Final campaign reports show Soros dropped another $211,000 late in the game, bringing his total spending on behalf of Krasner to nearly $1.7 million.

For some perspective, that’s more than five times as much as Krasner himself spent — and nearly 30 percent of all the spending in the seven-candidate primary.

Soros has backed district attorney candidates in other cities that support his criminal justice agenda.

David Thornburgh, president of the watchdog group Committee of Seventy, said all that outside money in a Philadelphia race makes him uneasy.

“I have a general and growing concern about how we seem to be nationalizing local elections,” Thornburgh said in an interview. “You know, these independent expenditures flowing from elsewhere are kind of Exhibit A of how that’s playing out. And if this continues, it starts to feel like Philadelphians lose control of our own elections.”
