I wondered about that too. Been bugging me since I saw the first report of that account. My first though was that the kid telling the story had no knowledge of firearms at all and called it a scope because he doesn’t know the difference. And whoever took the story didn’t know the difference either to catch it.
Ignorance and lack of knowledge is the true enemy in this firearm debate.
