Although Chris Cuomo and his employer, CNN, insist that calling someone 'Fredo' is an ethnic slur on a par with the n-word, even Vox takes exception to such a comparison. On Tuesday, Vox culture staff writer Alissa Wilkinson weighed in on this topic and came down very definitely on the side of no ethnic slur represented by "Fredo."
The very title of her article reveals what she thinks about this controversy: "CNNs Chris Cuomo said 'Fredo' is like 'the n-word' for Italians. Its
not."
Oh that picture is priceless.
All I see is a pic of Fredo Cuomo and John Cazale by Getty.
Fredo, you’re nothing to me now. You’re not a brother, you’re not a friend. I don’t want to know you or what you do. I don’t want to see you at the hotels, I don’t want you near my house. When you see our mother, I want to know a day in advance, so I won’t be there. You understand?
If youre an anchor on CNN, you really do believe that whatever you say, its true. It doesnt matter if its making up stories on the air or youre out in public with your family. If you speak it, its true.
Odd, the paucity of mea culpas from 'em . . .
You left off the part about me taking a hit from the crack pipe.
I was trying to be nice.
Good article. And for those outside ny, Shelter Island, where this happened is a fairly quiet, sophisticated place. You can only get there by boat. This did not happen in Manhattan or Brooklyn.
Isn’t the pic from Getty? I think you can’t post Getty pics on FR (but I could be wrong),
The pic was from a humor blog. Look closely.
What ethnicity is Cuomo anyways? Italian? WOP would be more accurate - this coming from a fellow part Italian.
Also not a Getty pic. I got the pic from BING search for “Chris Cuomo Fredo”. When you set the license to “Free share and use” that pic is the first one that comes up. If it was Getty, it wouldn’t appear with that filter restriction.
Ah. Thanks for the clarification. (I rarely post pics so am challenged.)
We should throw an everybody dress up as Fredo nlock party in front of CNN
He didn't call you a racist.
So there's that....
LOL!!..Now that’s funny..
