Customs and Border Protection is a component of DHS and the US Border Patrol is an agency under the same umbrella. The CBP officers you see working at airports and ports of entry are not Border Patrol Agents. Never have been, never will be. I get annoyed when the media lumps everyone together. I EOD’d in 84 with the BP and went to INS investigations in 2002 back when we were part of the DOJ. I still miss working in green. Honor first!
