Administration will move to speed death penalty in mass murder cases, Barr says

Attorney General Bill Barr said the Trump administration will move next month to speed up the use of capital punishment against convicted mass murderers, marking the first policy development in the wake of the two shootings earlier this month that left scores dead in Texas and Ohio.

Legislation that allows for the "imposition of any death sentence without undue delay" in cases of mass murders, as well as slayings of police officers, will be proposed after Labor Day, when lawmakers return from recess, Barr told a national law enforcement gathering in New Orleans. "Punishment must be swift and certain," he said.

President Donald Trump had directed the Justice Department last week to propose the legislation, and Barr said Monday that he is also working with the FBI to "develop strategies and measures to address" mass shootings and domestic terror attacks, including tools that assist in "detecting potential mass shooters before they strike."

Also I would suggest bringing back the electric chair as the means for executing mass murderers.

Can he do it for Richard Farley? He shot up my company in 1988, and he is still on death row in California.

One trial and one appeal to federal court, then the death penalty carried out shortly after the sentence is approved.

How many of these are federal cases? Looking at the roster of federal death row inmates, the only mass murderer in there is Dylann Roof.

It was needed except for the element that reminds us of George Orwell’s “Animal Farm.”

BUT SOME ANIMALS ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS.”

[They sure killed Timothy McVey is a big hurry.]

That’s because he waived further appeals. Most prisoners don’t do that. If he hadn’t, I expect his execution date would be coming up around now, since Barr has said the Feds will (eventually) start executing prisoners again. The last Federal prisoner executed was in 2003. And there are 2623 on death row.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timothy_McVeigh#Arrest,_trial,_conviction_and_sentencing
[McVeigh dropped his remaining appeals, saying that he would rather die than spend the rest of his life in prison.[76] On January 16, 2001 the Federal Bureau of Prisons set May 16, 2001, as McVeigh’s execution date.[77] McVeigh stated that his only regret was not completely destroying the federal building.[78] Six days prior to his scheduled execution, the FBI turned over thousands of documents of evidence it had previously withheld to McVeigh’s attorneys. As a result, U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft announced McVeigh’s execution would be stayed for one month.[76]]

We need a “Fast Track” judicial system for times like this. None of this 20 year waits for execution. Presidential assassins did not last 40 days till they met “Old Sparky”.

I like what Dean Martin said in ROUGH NIGHT IN JERICHO..
“Lock him up. We’ll hang him tomorrow after the trial.

Ecclesiastes 8:11-13 King James Version (KJV)

11 Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
