It’s denial of due process. No amount of flowery or colorful language can change that.

Which line will the sheep fall big time for? I can already see some leaning. They just need a cute jingle to sink their teeth into:

“If you like__________ you can keep _______”.

“Would I lie to you?”

“It is only temporary”.

“There will be ironclad safeguards built in against its misuse”.

“I assure you the process will not be abused.”

“We are not after your guns.”

“No Citizen needs to fear Red Flag Laws”.

I am sure that the politicians will amend and add to them as necessary to keep the sheep calm and contented.

And if I was a betting man, my money would be on them fooling the sheep one more time.

He’s a snake in the grass. I keep hearing everybody talking about due process in the red flag laws. They mention how police or relatives have to take it before a judge and make their case. All of them neglect to mention that the target of the hearing is not present or allowed to defend himself. It’s not due process if the intended target is not present. He’s just another government hack

“At its heart what we are talking about is the ability to confiscate weapons where there is evidence that violence is about to be committed. It’s that simple, and this isn’t that controversial.”

Sir, like all "gun laws" it will only effect the law abiding.

That is why it is useless and dangerous.

That is why for over a hundred years the only gun law was that you lost your right to keep and bear arms what when you also lost your right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, when you were imprisoned.

Any other gun law does not work.

Period.

Hey Sparky, and all of those three cases the person is also arrested and charged with a felony. What the left wants is to Simply knock on your door conductor raid take your guns And leave you there. If somebody is so dangerous that they need their guns taken away, why would they not also be arrested? At that point they should either be prosecuted or involuntarily committed to a mental hospital. But nobody speaks about doing that, this is about grabbing all the guns they can and nothing else.

Very slippery slope, right into the hands of Rat totalitarians. That’s where this is going. They have been chipping away at every aspect of traditional America for decades. Look at the disaster unfolding culturally, legally, nationally. This will not end well.

No it won’t. It will end with a disarmed public and a hell of a lot of slaughtered sheep. But some people have to be cited. I have said about all I am going to say about it.

Nah, criminals have shown such poor judgement they shouldn’t be able to own weapons.

Don’t take my response so personal. I did not attribute anything to you. I just asked probing questions.

Not a bad argument, but I’m not convinced yet.

In truth we don’t know if denials did or didn’t stop at least some crimes involving weapons. All of them? No...

People with records and issues of mental illness should not have to commit the crime to have their guns taken.

The idea is to get the guns out of the hands of people before they commit crimes.

If a guy does come up with serious mental or even criminal issues, there should be a way to take his guns away.

As long as there is due process, I don’t have a problem with it.

Brilliant...just brilliant. You identify a mentally ill psycho who is about to do something. At the very least you prove to a judge he is a menace to the community, a ticking time bomb. You show up and take his guns, and leave him behind angered and even more upset. The psycho is now free to walk the streets in his heightened state of rage... with access to gasoline, bombs, knives, hatchets, cars, chainsaws, dope, trucks, airplanes, electricity, poisons, bows and arrows, etc.

Any other bright ideas?

Bingo.

If the person is a danger to himself of others, he either needs to be behind bars or placed into a facility after receiving REAL due process. And if/when he is rehabilitated/treated to an appropriate level, he can have his rights restored. (Yes, including those eeeeevil guns.) As you point out, we already have a system that does this.

This red flag nonsense serves two evil purposes. One is the obvious - another step on the path to confiscation. The other is as a trap to hurt Trump. It’s being sold as something that Trump simply must agree to because of the irrational, emotional woman vote, but the reality is that if he goes along with it, he will lose a lot of gun rights supporters and likely not be re-elected in 2020. Of course, that’s exactly what the NeverTrumpers and establishment GOP folks want despite claiming the exact opposite.
