IMO, Democrats and foreign culture, political class Republicans in blue states would do anything to pass laws against our Second Amendment rights. When a vehicle backfires, they stampede over their kids and smash them flat.

Excellent idea. IOW, make up a crap sandwich and see if Congress will eat (vote) it. Make it so unpalatable that no one on either side of the aisle will wanna vote for it.

I would not accept that. Democrats would water down or remove the voter ID stuff, refuse immigration limits, but fiercely enforce gun controls. And they will NEVER stop at background checks.
Let’s not forget most conservatives, myself included, were at one time opposed to government background checks. I would support the BIDS system, wherein a secure prohibited list was made available to gun dealers. The system as it exists can be shut down on a whim, ending all gun sales.
How can Democrats and the GOPe insist on background checks for those legally able to buy, but no restrictions on illegals? They really are despicable people.
One extensive background check before you purchase your first gun. None afterwards.
