side comment. I have driven across the country 9 times. I would be going along and then the interstate would have a curve.

A few years ago I read, they put curves into the highways at various points to stop enemy planes from using the interstate as landing strips.,.

That’s why Luxembourg has never attacked us.

They can’t handle curves.

Th reason you put curves in the road are as follows:

1) change the direction to avoid obstacles and costs
2) control speed
3) driver alertness.

When the interstate freeway system was proposed all freeways were to have a 5 mile straight stretches every so many miles to allow for the landing and take-off of our military aircraft.
