You make two good points that suggest the reality of the matter:

...I wouldn’t use voter registration in California as a reliable means of measuring anything other than left-wing activism.
The exact point. Much as we might measure the growth of a cancer but not take steps to arrest that growth.

A good voter registration purge and cleanup would probably shift those numbers back for a few more years.
Who at the state level will conduct that purge? Will those few more years provide enough time for you ta act?

The reality appears to be that there is no civil, effective political opposition. That suggests that Californians will continue hanging onto a rope below an ascending dirigible.

As native and former Californian, whose family had reasons for leaving but none for returning, I wish you and yours luck, Dan.

We left there three Months ago.

Politics was one of the reasons, especially after every Rat running for the House in OC won the Seats. Vote Harvesting, the lack of Voter ID Laws and the influx of Illegal Invaders have ruined Orange County.

Every large Apartment Complex, even in the more affluent South Orange County area where we lived are Illegal Invader strongholds.

Richard Nixon once said New York City is a great place to live if you’re very rich or very poor.

Sounds like the direction Cali is headed.

All the Orange County Republicans are moving to Idaho.

It’s demographic replacement. Voter fraud only exists because the Left is impatient. In just a few short years, they won’t even need to cheat. It’s not 1965 anymore.

Part of the reason I've also seen cited for the blue wave in OC is that their taxes were hiked considerably by the new federal tax law eliminating the state and local tax deduction, which hammered the high earners with expensive homes who made up a good part of the Republican base in the area. The increased standard deduction didn't come close to making up the difference.

Lots of people who live conservative lifestyles have moved to Orange County.

Unfortunately they vote Democrat.

UCI doesn't stand for University of California at Irvine anymore.

Orange County, CA is a great place, great climate and nice in general.

Especially if you can afford to live near the ocean where it's cooler. The high today in

Now, compared to even further inland:

Thanks Frog, but check my profile flag. I have one foot out already. Wife and kids are at the new home 1000 miles away while I paint and detail the homestead I love with a beautiful view nestled among vineyards out in the country. The goal is to list it for sale by Sept 1st. Then I'll sell my lawn tractor and lawnmowers and edger and hedge trimmer and landscaping tools because where I'm headed they have rock gardens instead of lawns and pastures. As the Congressman I used to work for put it, only politicians could send people fleeing from California, the once beautiful land of plenty, to live instead in neighboring desert wastelands.

That at the fact they no longer can write off their 10% income tax, and mortgage interest on their overpriced homes beyond the cap.

People vote with their wallets, now that deep blue overpriced states can no longer get their high taxes and overpriced housing subsidized, they will lash out at the folks who took that perk away.

What is a minority party to do? Republicans have fund themselves out of state offices, found themselves on the minority side of dem supermajorities in the legislature. They are even hard pressed to make it to the general election ballot because of top two moving forward regardless of party.

Seems unlikely CA will ever be anything other than a so-called “progressive’s” “paradise”

Yep, I had a Neighbor who makes pretty good money tell me he won’t Vote for the GOP and Trump because of the limited SALT Deduction.

The Fact that his overall Tax Rate fell means nothing to him.

Ironically, my GOP Congressman at the time Dana Rohrabacher tried to get the SALT Deduction raised to $20,000. When it didn’t happen, he didn’t Vote for the Bill.

IMHO, it should have been $24,000, the same as the standard Deduction for a Married Couple under the new Tax Law.

You don’t have to use voter registration, look at the actual vote from last November. Orange County is now represented by zero Republicans in its congressional delegation: seven representatives, seven Democrats.

Yeah, I saw a lot of chortling on here about sticking it to California, people never imagining that there could be electoral consequences.

What electoral consequence from CA where all 55 electoral votes are already predetermined to be democrat?

People (so called conservatives) who don’t like the SALT decision need to wake up and understand that they were basically getting a form of welfare in their fed tax returns at someone else’s expense.

The whole idea of a federation of states is so that experimentation can occur and efficiencies found. States that do things right become attractive and states that do things wrong become less attractive. The fed tax system allowing for unlimited deduction of state taxes permitted states to manipulate the system and be inefficient (wasteful) at the expense of more efficient states.

These states that are going bankrupt spending on welfare and nonsense need to have something to hold them accountable. If they were smart they would change their own tax and spend habits. But more likely they will have to fail and be reborn in an angry mob retaliation at some point.

I thought the idea of breaking up California sounded good. Wasn’t sure why Tucker was against it. Why should someone from Riverside have to be ruled by a governor and two senators from San Francisco? Those are two different worlds

If individual house seats don't matter, why bother running any Republican in Democrat-majority states?

People (so called conservatives) who don’t like the SALT decision need to wake up and understand that they were basically getting a form of welfare in their fed tax returns at someone else’s expense.

Yeah, telling people they need to pay more in taxes to support other people is always a winning Republican message.

All the proposals to split California into two or three states were drawn to ensure all minor states still had dem majorities. They would have screwed the conservative portions of the state again and secured four more seats in the Senate.

And that all came about from bogus voter registrations and ballot harvesting.
