I don’t support the death penalty because I have seen first hand the miscarriages of justice by the legal system

Well, you can take that to its logical conclusion... don’t support prison sentences because you “have seen first hand the miscarriages of justice by the legal system”. Yeah, that;s the ticket!

I support the death penalty because, having worked in a big city ER for 20+ years,I've seen more murder victims than you've had hot dinners.

It is not unreasonable to oppose the death penalty because one thinks there could be mistakes or prejudice could be a factor in who gets such a sentence and who doesn’t. But the left often uses a moral equivalency argument - if you want a serial killer or a mass shooter to be executed you are just like the criminal. But the same leftists want an all-powerful state and would support well-armed agents of the state using deadly force to take away Constitutional rights from people the leftists don’t like.

SUURREEE you have. You had access to and examined all the evidence used in the trials?? No human system is perfect, but the US criminal justice system more than bends over to at least attempt an honest and honorable outcome. But the death penalty for these maniacs protects the inmate population they will be put in with it.

Unless and until a "life sentence in solitary confinement" option becomes available, the death penalty is needed.

People in this Country aren't sentenced to Death and taken out behind the Courthouse and Hanged.

They get a ridiculous amount of Appeals. That is why the Prosecutors wheel and deal with the Murdering Scum's Lawyers and they end up going to Jail instead. Plead Guilty and we will treat you nice. We have always had the best and fairest Justice System in the world. Thanks to advances in Evidence gathering and DNA, it has only improved. You are guaranteed a Fair Trial.

See my FReeper profile for a suggested alternative to the DP.
