In Blow to Bullet Train, California Might Shift Billions of Dollars to L.A., Bay Area Projects

Assembly Democrats see greater public value in improving passenger rail from Burbank to Anaheim, relieving congestion on the busy Interstate 5 corridor before the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and putting additional money into San Francisco commuter rail. The proposal has been taken more seriously in recent weeks, and supporters think it will meet the tricky legal requirements of the high-speed rail project.

“I like the concept,” said Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood). “Any project that doesn’t have a significant amount of service to the largest areas in the state doesn’t make much sense.”

The money was designated for the train boondoggle and NOT the general fund. Trump has already told them the money will be taken back, look around and you will see this is not a new dance

In my view worst case they can back out the money if not returned from other allocations by the Federal Government

Interesting times

Its been a boodoggle from the start — $10 billion previously spent on ‘paperwork’ without a foot of track or roadbed built.

Now a few miles of roadbed and the rest is stalled and the money going to other pet projects.

It was never going to be cost effective (what ridership??) and a constant bill for the taxpayers

Trump was right to ask the federal money be returned

The IOC should withdraw the 2028 Olympic games from anywhere in CA and award the games elsewhere.

No way millions of fans and athletes from around the world would venture there where the streets, parks, etc. are filled with homeless people in tents and the areas are rife with rats, urine, feces and drug needles.
