Isn’t/wasn’t there some type of rule that prohibited sitting members of Congress from accepting these types of positions? Didn’t this issue come up when she was appointed to Sec of State by the last occupant of the White House? As is the norm, give liberals anything, and I mean anything, and they’ll figure out a way to f*ck it up.

On a side note, from interviews I’ve watched on tv, Ratcliffe seems like a decent guy compared to some of the clowns he has to work with. And he was on the House Intel Committee, as well, wasn’t he? So, he’s familiar with the lay of the land.

“Coats didn’t seem to be all that intelligent.”

Dan the dud. Who knows what, if anything, he did, but it became clear awhile ago that Trump wasn’t happy with him.

Still not sure what the DNI’s responsibilities are, other than the CIA Director reports to him.

They can. The Governor of their State can appoint a temporary replacement.

Interesting that Ratcliffe is a lawyer, rather than having an Intelligence Community background.

Maybe people will be going to trial...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Director_of_National_Intelligence

The United States Director of National Intelligence (DNI) is the United States government Cabinet-level official—subject to the authority, direction, and control of the President of the United States—required by the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 to:

serve as head of the sixteen-member United States Intelligence Community,
direct and oversee the National Intelligence Program; and
serve as an advisor, upon invitation, to the President of the United States and his executive offices of the National Security Council and the Homeland Security Council about intelligence matters related to national security.

The Director produces the President’s Daily Brief (PDB), a top-secret document including intelligence from all the various agencies, given each morning to the President of the United States.[1]

“Was Coats cooperating with Barr?”

We almost never find out for sure what is really happening in the Intelligence Community.

Coats may have wanted out before the mess is unveiled, or may have been pushed out to better unveil it, or who knows what...

= = = = = = = = = = = =

Don’t really want to prohibit it....don’t some of them use it to appoint a member of opposite party to a ‘post’ if they know a ‘friendly’ will replace him?

Some people know.

And no, Coats was not cooperating with Barr. That's why the hue and cry went up when Barr went to the heads of the departments to review the DECLAS material and kept Coats out of the loop. Coats is a pure dee derp state derp. Trump knows it. And that's why he's gone.
