I'll throw it out to anybody who has the gumption to bring this about and I won't even sue for royalties when you do it.
You know how your car dings when you leave your headlights on after you turn the car off? Why can't we do the same thing with seat belts? The car dings if your seat belts are not fastened when you start the car, so there must be a way to make them ding when they remain fastened after you turn your engine off.
There you have it. Your path to billions if you're the inventive type.
As I said, I won't sue for royalties but if you are led to throw a little spiff my way, a couple hundred thousand would come in handy.
cannot believe there has not been a great idea brought to “Shark Tank”.
I was thinking about something that takes the weight of the car when it has no one in it. That way the baby car empty car seat doesn’t set it off. Then weighs it when loaded, take the key out, then goes off to remind you not to leave your kids in the effing car.
If you are THAT forgetful, and have to transport babies in your car, the cheapest and simplest solution is to tie a dummy cord to you and the babys car seat. You wont get far if you walk away and leave the baby behind, unless you detach yourself because thats your plan all along.
My wife and I have been driving older cars for the past twenty years. We recently upgraded to a 2017 Subaru Outback for her and a 2014 Corolla for me. I was surprised to see that the newer cars have a sensor that detects when the front passenger seat is occupied and won't activate the airbag unless someone is seated there. So the technology is available; it's just a matter of putting it to use.
A less high-tech solution might be to develop a paradigm similar to "always assume the gun is loaded," for parents, so that they never walk away from the car, under any circumstances, without checking the interior.
I suspect the child seat makers to come up with something of that nature.
