look, if i had to check up on my husband every time he had my kids, he would not be my husband for long.
The kids are both parents responsibility.
But we can agree to disagree.

If there are a great number of people deliberately doing something deterrence is a major consideration in punishment.

If there are a handful of people accidentally doing something, deterrence should not be a consideration.

If piling on somebody who is already most probably in the absolute depths of despair for no purpose that I can see is what floats your boat—well, it’s a free country.

He won’t be the first nor last of parents who have ‘pressures’ way beyond what we had raising our children. I saw this clearly as my children raised their kids.

“Do you know where your children are?” campaign should be brought back. Kids are forgotten in heated cars, teens are out of control...etcetc.

This can occur for any parents ‘sharing’ Drop off duty at day cares.....

I suspect the child seat makers to come up with something of that nature.

Wise words. I gave up a teaching career to be a stay-at-home Mom. I have never regretted my choice, not even for a minute!

For the last two weeks, not knowing how the person is, and initially not knowing I wasn’t at fault, it is easy for me now to see how one could carry that around for the rest of your days.

This man was at fault. I am sure it wasn’t intentional, but...that makes no difference now.

Sad.

So sorry for you.

There isn’t much forgetfulness as it is. 40 deaths a year on average.

Yes, and we should just excuse 40 bank robberies, also, because we’re so above judging people.

Go look at accident death rates in the past. Cars are WAY safer today. You don’t want a tank. You want the car to absorb the impact forces. Not to mention the rigid steering wheel columns with the slicer horn bars, the non safety glass, the lack of good restraints, air bags etc etc etc.

Yeah. They did. Go look at the crash statistics from the 50,60,70's.

Because people wouldn’t and still don’t use seatbelts.

You’ll also note that there was no great drop off statistically as air bass were mandated in the early nineties (in fact there’s an uptick) and the greatest stops only occcur when people stop driving (as car use is now and continues to as millennials stop driving which is why car manufacturers are having such hard times.

Only idiots don’t use they seatbelts.

I’ve been an ER doc for 30 years and seen hundreds if not thousands of crash victims. Seatbelts save tons of lives. So do air bags.

I’ve never heard of anyone robbing a bank completely by accident, but maybe things work differently in Maryland.

We’d solve the problem by just putting a spike on the steering wheel facing the driver
