Something is Rotten in the Pentagon
Spectator ^ | July 15, 2019 | Jed Babbin

The strains of almost eighteen years of continuous war, Obama’s massive budget cuts, and a tide of damaging politics have eroded critical parts of our military. What has held together, until last week, was the most critical element: the trust that must exist between the civilian leadership and the military of all ranks.

A huge blow to that trust has just occurred on Secretary of the Navy Richard Spencer’s watch. Another failure of leadership, both similar and different, is taking place about the nomination of Gen. John Hyten, Commander of U.S. Strategic Command, to be the next vice chairman of the joint chiefs of staff.

On May 24, the Senate confirmed Adm. William Moran to be the next Chief of Naval Operations, the top officer in the Navy. On July 7, after a meeting with Spencer, Moran agreed to retire instead of taking his new post. What happened between those two dates to force Moran out?

Last week, Air Force Gen. John Hyten was accused by an anonymous “senior military officer” of sexual misconduct toward her. Will Hyten be forced out, too?

The Obama administration corrupted every part of the federal government.

It is not surprising that they have also corrupted the Department of Defense.

The accusation of sexual misconduct against Gen. Hyten sounds a lot like the allegation against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation.

The attempt to derail Kavanaugh was based on a decades-old accusation that he had molested another teenager at a college party. There were no witnesses, no forensic evidence, and, in sum, no reason to believe the accuser, Christine Blasey Ford. Nevertheless, the Democrats on the Judiciary Committee insisted that she was more truthful than Kavanaugh and pilloried him in hearings that were a new low in the confirmation process.

Hyten has similarly been accused by a female Army colonel of sexual aggression and then ruining her career when she resisted him. She didn’t report Hyten’s supposed misconduct when it occurred. She only came forward when he was nominated for the vice chairman’s post. That alone raises a huge question about her credibility.

This will give Trump more influence in naming their successors.

The Pentagon has not recovered from Obama’s disastrous policies. His left wing perfumed Generals are still in position using social experiments to destroy military readiness and hanging on with determination. Trump, had he drained the swamp, should have fired every three and four star officer and every civilian hired during Obama’s reign on the first day of his administration. He did not cut out the dead wood and not the whole forest is dying. (Retired Army Officer)

Your assessment is exactly on point and Trump should have fired the senior staff on day one; then going down to the LtCol and Col level to jump ranks to take the places. Bush made the same mistake when he first took office. (retired AF officer).

In the military one is guilty until proven guilty. Even if the accusations are proven to be one thousand % BS a person’s career either will be ended or at least severely damaged.

I have good impression of the newly appointed and confirmed Secretary of Defense, Mark Esper.

Heh, the Commendant of Cadets at the AF Academy was fired for ...well, we really do not know.

It was a she (no real problem there). With a wife (hmmmm, not damning, but an example for cadets?), and children.

Dorkbama selectee without a doubt.

And, of course, we will never know the reason.

Wanna bet the sex of the replacement?

This started with GHW Bush administration and the Tailhook witchhunt and the actions of pro-homo Cheney. The pussification of the leadership of the military has been happily and aggressively pushed by every president since.
Obama was just the cherry on the cake.

Trump has inherited a military leadership that is pussified, paralyzed, backwards in thinking, globalist and generally unpatriotic. The Pentagon is infested with open borders, pro-homo/tranny/ pro-sunni/ MPA from JFK school of government types.

The problem will not be corrected till we suffer brutal catastrophes in a future war. The nuisance level wars of fun and profit will probably not hit us in that way. Something big, someday... other than that I think we are stuck with this bunch of perverts and America-lasters.

Bingo!

The process should be fast-tracked and commence the minute the Joint Session certifies the results of the presidential election. The likely president-elect would hold in his hand a list carefully prepared by his military advisors of those to be considered. Firing everyone on Day One could be problematic, although Senate approval of O7+'s could be expedited.

Obama purged the officer class of the military as Clinton did, not as spectacularly while being just as thorough. It is a Democrat tradition that goes back to Truman. Everyone on the Liberal to Commie line fears and hates the organized military. That is true for every modern society. Soviet Russia had to have an military but they hemmed it in with two alternate military organizations and still it did betray the communists in the end.

The military is one of the most political outfits around..

Look at WWII...it took a long time to get the best Generals running the war..

They bowed to Obama and we have transgender fools in the military.

They need an overhaul...and stop spending money on things they do not need ..because a senator or congressman wants it for jobs in his district..

This is somewhat off the subject, but it greatly bothers me. We used to go every year to watch Rolling Thunder at Memorial Day in DC. Now, after all these years, the Pentagon no longer allows them use of its parking lot, making this year the last time the group will commemorate Memorial Day in D.C.

Bulwarks of the republic such as the church, the military and law enforcement have long been the targets of communist infiltration.

From what I can see, they have largely succeeded.

Powerful point. The Pentagon won’t let them park. Says it all.

For many years Rolling Thunder parked in their lot. I don’t know what led to this sudden change.
