Jeremy Hunt today warned that Iran may be choosing a “dangerous path” of “illegal and destabilising” behaviour after it seized a British-flagged tanker in the Gulf.
The cargo vessel Stena Impero had been sailing through the Strait of Hormuz en route to Saudi Arabia when it was surrounded by four vessels and a helicopter at 4pm yesterday in an escalation of tensions between London and Tehran.

Iran still has one tanker in an Iranian port.
That is an act of war or piracy at the very least.

Has there ever been any thought to digging a canal across Oman, UAE to bypass the Straits?
Interesting thought, but I doubt that it’s practical due to the sheer volume of 2-way traffic through the straits. With longer range missiles, Iran could still block the proposed canal.
Let the Brits pull their own nuts out of the fire for a change.
The Brit navy of today is nothing of what it once was. They couldn’t do anything even if they wanted to. America still has the massive edge in naval projection but it has shown America’s billion dollar ships can easily be disabled by little skiffs or mentally retarded captains. At any rate,what good are warships when they aren’t used properly for war anyway?

The Brits need to draw an even redder line and double dare the Iranians.
Frankly, I don’t care how removing Tehran from the equation is accomplished as long as it is accomplished.
