Iran has blown the $150 billion that Obama gave them and is now desperate for cash, with sanctions strangling their cash flow. Their new strategy is akin to the former North Korean gambit: act up to get your way. Trump will just wait them out. Tanker owners/insurers will act accordingly. Sorry Asia and Europe.

I do not know; it just seems to me that, given the gravity of the situation and the high stakes involved, an armed guard on each ship makes sense.
And there is one more thing at play here: Piracy!
Iran committed an act of war - Piracy - when it seized that ship.
Iran really believes that it can prevail in a shooting war with the US and our Allies.
Therefore, one of these days, they ARE gonna shoot!
