They didn’t repeal Obamacare when they had the majority in congress. Nobody is going to believe them now.

Right.

In Nov. 2018 and in recap interviews by analysts on right leaning talk shows (my only kind) I heard “Yes, the House candidate there was hurt by the perception that the GOP would let the insurance industry ban pre-existing conditions....”

Guests would say “I know, I agree but the Dems got several points to win based on that.”

I still hear Dems say “We need a fair healthcare system, not one that benefits the big insurance companies and rich Republicans. And they want to take away your Social Security, too. You have to vote Dem.”

Therefore, and I am serious: There has to be a ceremony and an ad on TV with the GOP raising their right hands and stating “I swear that pre-existing conditions will not be excluded from any health plan we endorse.”

You can bet the Dems will have ads saying the opposite is endorsed by the GOP. And panels on all the media shows.
