Ping for your interest. :)
If the majority of immigrants (Chinese or otherwise) were conservative, you can bet that the Dems would be anti-immigrant, and they would close the border tomorrow.
Too few of them to matter, though.
I am amazed that people as smart as the Chinese have taken this long to figure out that the Democrat Party isn’t for them.
I think that they have figured out what Twain observed: “If voting could change anything, it would be illegal.”
The article contains a lot of typical RINO fluff, but is more-or-less accurate
Chinese immigrants I know all just want to be taxed less, have good schools for their kids, and avoid crime. There’s a smaller, but quite firm, subset of Chinese Christians who then also add on Christian moral (and political) stances, and they are very clear conservatives.
I have NEVER met a Chinese immigrant who is a outright socialist ideologue, like America’s own Warren’s or AOC’s or Omar’s. to a person, it seems the Chinese Communist Party has removed any inclinations of that.
What I find though is the immigrant offspring, the next generation, born in the USA, who pass through US education system, who become propagandized and leftist quite easily.
East Asians are the most discriminated against group in America—by the elite that controls the country. Why? Because they show that affirmative action on the basis of race or skin color is a total sham. And they totally throw the curve off. So they are systematically excluded from many institutions of higher learning. One exception is Berkeley, since the people of California passed a proposition that barred affirmative action in California public universities. So many Asians that are excluded from other top universities go to Cal. It is not the radical place it once was. It actually has a much nicer feel to it, since many of the students are now there to learn, not agitate.
I would say it’s not just Chinese in the U.S. People LOVE Donald Trump in Korea. They have demonstrations in support of him all the time in Seoul. My wife and I have watched a couple when we’ve been there.
Welcome to the fold, I say. Also, as a bonus, many of the immigrants (LEGAL immigrants, mind you) from Taiwan are also pro-2nd-Amendment RKBA. They KNOW that the arsenal of freedom must remain in the people’s hands.
Don’t know about ethnic Chinese turning to the right. If you look at parts of the San Gabriel Valley and Orange County where there is a large ethnic Chinese population these areas have or are becoming Democratic areas.
People from Taiwan, Korea, China have experienced “socialism” aka Communism, and know what it’s all about.
For the life of me I dont understand why they havent been overwhelmingly voting Republican all along. From discrimination against their kids for working hard to high taxes on them for working hard, every part of the Democrats agenda hurts them.
Competition, achievement, self reliance.....uhhhh helloooo!!! Yall are natural conservatives. Start voting that way.
Balkanizing the country along racial lines cuts both ways, Democrats.
The person in the bottom image with goggles on doesn’t look asian but I could be mistaken.
I’m a skeptic. They don’t vote. It has to do with jury duty. Why don’t they dominate S.F. politics? Trump’s standing up to the Chicoms and the GOP going against affirmative action may help but we’ll have to wait and see. I don’t even think the Vietnamese in Southern Cal hold it against the Democrats for selling them down the river.
IMO the most identifying trait of an Asian is the eyes. Those glasses are blocking them out, so in all fairness, and excluding any profiling, we really don’t know what race he could possibly be.
Considering the sun glasses and cap, I’d bet he’s an Eskimo.
Can’t blame them. They get about as much respect from the left as a straight white Christian.
Confucian culture is distinctly Conservative - keep families together, value education, be of good ethical character.
I would really hate affirmative action if I had the grades and scores to enter medical school or an elite law school but discover that my scores are docked points because of the color of someone elses skin or their ethnicity.
How dare you. How absolutely dare you deny that person the right to identify as Chinese!
