A White House meeting on Tuesday between President Trump and Republican congressional leaders was abruptly cancelled.
Sens. John Thune (R-S.D.) and John Cornyn (R-Texas) said the 4 p.m. meeting had been called off but they were not sure why. The White House has yet to comment on the cancellation.
A White House official said earlier Tuesday that Trump and GOP lawmakers planned to discuss “immigration priorities.”
The cancellation of the meeting came after Thune, Cornyn and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) had already left to go to the White House, only to return several minutes later saying they had been told the meeting was called off.
"It was a quick meeting," Thune quipped, as he returned to the Capitol along with Cornyn.
Cornyn said they didn't immediately have a sense of when or if the meeting would be rescheduled.
"The meeting cancelled," he said. "We don't know why."
The conversation was expected to center on a sweeping proposal drafted by White House adviser Jared Kushner on closing so-called “loopholes” in asylum laws and overhauling the legal immigration system. The meeting was scheduled hours before the House was set to vote on a resolution condemning Trump's remarks targeting a group of minority congresswomen.
President Trump already dropped an Ace on the dems. Must apply for asylum in Mexico (first country). This is not reviewable by the courts. Done deal. Starts today.

But “overhauling the legal immigration system”? For Kushner, I’m pretty sure that “overhaul the legal immigration system” EQUALS mass increase in “legal” immigration. It means MANAGED OPEN BORDERS!

The constant Kushner paranoia on FR is beyond tiresome. And lame: “Trump is being hoodwinked!” By now it’s obvious from the record who makes the final decisions.

I’m always surprised on FR to see Kushner supporters come out the woodwork to defend him. When he again suggests amnesty, will they defend him as well? Maybe these defenders support that more than they do Trump?
If you are a wager earner (W-2) the GOP is not you friend. They want you displaced, replaced, impoverished and destitute. They want you replaced by a cheap imported wage slave indentured servant. It’s good for the bottom line don’t you know.
