Historian Steven M. Gillon recalls his friendship with John F. Kennedy Jr. on the 20th anniversary of his fatal plane crash. The life of the late magazine publisher is being chronicled in a new A&E documentary titled 'Biography: JFK Jr — The Final Year,' as well as a book by Gillon titled 'America's Reluctant Prince.'
Steven M. Gillon can vividly recall when he and his pal John F. Kennedy Jr. were at a bar watching a fight on the big screen and a man pushed him aside and exclaimed “You’re John!” hugging the son of late President John F. Kennedy.
“He said, ‘I loved your father,’” Gillon recalled to Fox News. “That happened a lot. A couple of minutes later, the guy comes out again. He’s dragging his wife behind him and says, ‘Marilyn, I want you to meet my friend, John F. Kennedy Jr.’ John reaches out and he says, ‘Hi, Marilyn. I’ve heard so much about you. I’m glad I finally got to meet you.’ And I looked at him. He had just met this guy 20 minutes ago. And John said, ‘What was wrong with that? I made two people really happy.’

Not so sure about that. JFK Jr is not exactly a genius, you know? He’ll get destroyed in a national campaign.
I just now stumbled on this article about Joe Kennedy Sr and how he supported Nazi while Ambassador. Joe Sr ruined his family. That is why they were “cursed” IMO
He was a lousy student and a lousy athlete, and was ugly as a teenager. He was a loser with a famous name.
It was said that in his final flight, he for whatever reason lost control of the plane and despite his frantic efforts was unable to stabilize the aircraft and crashed. Always imagined he dies listening to the screams of his wife and her sister. Question to pilots: If during that crisis had he engaged the automatic pilot, would the aircraft had stabilized thus allowing him to regain his bearings and control?

He was only part way through his instrument training and experienced one of the more common killers in general aviation: flying into Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC). For those pilots not proficient in instrument navigation (like JFK, Jr.), it can be a sure killer, and in his case it was.
Reckless. I think his wife was running late. Weather turned. It’s a shame he took down an innocent victim (the sister).

I read the same story about Arnold Palmer.
He was not instrument rated. He took off in the late afternoon for a destination that would have required him to fly VFR in the dark. That alone was a recipe for disaster. Unless, of course, there was a qualified pilot flying right seat. According to several media reports soon after the plane disappeared, witnesses at the New Jersey general aviation airport where they took off reported seeing another male seated in the right front seat but only three bodies were still strapped in were recovered. My wife’s cousins who were working in Manhattan at the time and long time Westchester County residents with heavy Democrat credentials told her that JFK Jr. was going to announce his bid for the vacant Senate seat the Monday morning after the wedding. It’s not hard to imagine a storyline whereby an operative posing as a flight instructor got on the plane with a ‘chute in a carryon, disabled the three innocents, set the autopilot, bailed out the right door and got picked up by a waiting speedboat. Et voila!! Unimpeded campaign and election for the new U.S. Senator from New York.
Joe Kennedy was recalled because of his coziness with Hitler and his minions. But, just as bad, is what he did with his own daughter — Rosemary. He had her lobotomized and turned her into a vegetable that had to be institutionalized for the rest of her life. He didn’t even visit her. And he never told Rose what he had done.
Would have kept Obama out of the White House. Those 8 years between Bush 43 and Trump would have been John Jr’s. Aging Boomers reliving their childhoods, Camelot, blahblahblah.
He was dead so the media had to go looking for a stand-in. The 70’s radical student left was moving into senior Establishment positions in the country and proffered two candidates— Hillary and Obummer.
Obummer’s strain of Democrat relied on government more than Hillary’s base did, so they had more riding on the outcome of the primaries (and general).
They swept the floor with Hillary, who took her pasty white ass back to Westchester and drank for two and a half years.
But I digress. Bottom line: JFK,Jr.’s death opened up a presidential possibility no one saw coming.
... or JFK Jr. would have been our Justin Trudeau. The father was tested in combat and was well educated with some exposure to international diplomacy thru his father. Jr. was a journalist.
Nonsense. He was in over his head and made fatal errors. How many times have we heard never to be passenger in a motor vehicle operated by a Kennedy.
Perhaps more liberals should do flight training with that instructor. /h
Not night qualified, flew in inclement weather, no instrument training, spatial disorientation, flew between cloud layers with no moon, couldn’t tell up from down. Would have done the same to the US if elected.

He completed over ninety percent of the flight safely. But then he took a shortcut toward the sea and away from the coastal lights that probably wouldn’t have saved him more than five minutes.
