According to Wikipedia (which slavishly uses feminine pronouns throughout and mentions the awards won while still a male but without ever mentioning his birth name), the elbow injury happened during a 2018 competition. She returned and won a gold medal at a 2019 competition.
As a friend of my DH stated after a hilarious incident w a homo male couple once, if a WOMAN acted like this we would call HER insane!
