I think this is more about the star QB losing the Super Bowl, then next season a "less talented" QB takes the reins.
The losing QB trash-talks the upstart who wins the SB. The winning QB invites the loser to a meeting and gives him a public wedgie.
Now the winner lives rent-free in the loser's head.
