Story notes that the socialist model favored by the Democratic Socialists is....Sweden.

You know, that country with all those tall, blonde, blue eyed...Aryans.

These people’s politics are straight out of Clan of the Cave Bear. Nazi agit-prop gussied up as internationalism, gone trendy.

“My experiences in Mexico and my experiences working with immigrant workers, and my experiences with people from different parts of this region, socialist politics are much more deeply rooted,” he said.

This, from one of the speakers, is the real reason they want these people here - already molded to obey their "betters".

It is beyond simple laziness now (at least for the average young low-information leftist); they can see very clearly that they will most likely have a noticeably lower standard of living than previous generations of Americans, and they have no confidence the status quo will ever address that.

These people disgust me with their politics of envy, but don’t ignore basic realities they face. My teen children are working for the same hourly wage I earned 30 years ago - not adjusted for inflation, but the same actual wage - which is ridiculous. The wages are suppressed because borders are left open to stop supply & demand from ever raising those wages. So now those young Americans can work for depressed wages, and on top of that, they are surrounded by far more imported foreigners than most of us ever encountered (and I grew up in a “diverse” area). They have little hope of ever providing for a family, owning a car (not just for the price of the car itself, but the costs of insuring and maintaining it), or ever owning a home - there is simply 0 economic stability (outside of government work) that would give people the confidence to make these leaps of faith at various points in their life to attain what we used to know of as “The American Dream”.

What we are seeing now is our young people ending up in the same place Western Europe’s people arrived at decades ago, with the same political and demographic disasters as result (non-breeding people voting socialist, with trafficked foreigners filling the country and consuming much of the “freebies”).

“Curiosity killed the cat.”

That’s true - but the irony is that our brains run on curiosity. Our neural nets are constantly looking for patterns, seeking to optimize. The trouble is that that can actually work against us.

The Mind and the Brain:

discusses the topic of “Phantom Pain.” This is the phenomenon of amputees complaining of pain “in" appendages which they no longer even have. Of course we know that pain is perceived in the brain, not in an arm or leg. So why would an amputee receive pain signals from a missing finger??? The answer lies in the fact that the brain cells dedicated to processing sensations from a locale are constantly seeking information. And when they don’t get stimulation from the normal source they will find it elsewhere. Thus, “phantom pain” which seems to be from nowhere.

What does that have to do with socialism? Much, IMHO. Socialists are nodes of intelligence/curiosity in society which feel rather than thinking. They create the pain that they exist to detect. What they say is a problem is something else entirely.
