Yes, the whole case is strange. This wasn't a normal push in or break in. A group of four heavily thugs invade the home of an older man. They had to be going after something pretty specific they thought was there, safe full of tax avoidance cash, trove of precious stones, large quantity of narcotics. Not saying these apish mopes really knew anything. A home up the street was invaded by a similar group as they were sure the Hispanic doctor, who was the brother-in-law of the president of a Central American country would naturally have a stack of money and drugs around. There was less than $100 in the house. Fortunately the thugs just tied the woman, her maid, and son up and left. They all were caught in a few days and are now spending many years in a state pen.
