You’re right they’re not cheap labor. I live in a small town in one of the poorest counties in Pennsylvania. You shop in the local grocery stores and you see recent immigrants in their native garb or jabbering away in some foreign language. They make their purchases and go out to the parking lot where they get into top of the line, brand new, Mercedes, BMWs, or some other $50,000-100,000+ status symbol. Meanwhile, locals, whose families have lived here for generations, drive rusted pickup trucks or other wrecks and hunt or fish to feed their families some protein. Opioid abuse is rampant. Some of these Americans live in little more than shacks out in the woods. It isn’t because they’re lazy; in many instances their work in the coal mines and steel mills is gone thanks to the policies of the Republican and Democrat administrations, particularly Obama’s. They’ve been forgotten as the government promotes the interests of big business and immigrant rights organizations. The American dream is now for the immigrants driving the big, expensive cars who work in high tech in Pittsburgh and live in the country.
The other issue, which no one discusses, is that once they, and their wives are here, they petition to bring both sets of parents over as well, under “family reunification” guidelines.
Then, all four grandparents get onto Medicare and SSI, which enables them to be able to pay cash for a very nice 4 or 5 bedroom house in the suburbs where they all live together.
This then drives up the price of those house so that the Americans, whose jobs they took, are pushed even further out of being able to afford anything. And most native born Americans do not have live in, free daycare available so they are, again, behind the eight ball trying to play catch up!

140 Republicans just voted with the Democrats to pass this in the House.
Congress just simply does not care about native-born Americans. They hate us.

Great comment. I’ve mentioned the same to others outside of FR. Our transportation systems, traffic etc were not designed for this.
Notice the media blackout on the bill—Passed with 140 REPUBLICAN votes in the House and reported to have 20+ Republican sponsors or supporters in the Senate. They are all trying to sneak this through and dump it on Trump’s desk for his signature. Haven’t heard him say no, so suspect he’ll sign it. Sad for American workers, sad for America. Can we stop it?

The GOP knows that nearly all the voters that hate this bill will vote for them anyway this election cycle because Trump is on the ballot. It’s pure power politics and it is beyond disgusting.

Yep. The fix is in. It is being fast tracked and later will be attached to some “must sign” bill.

This bill proves once again that there is no opposition party to the progressive-corportist complex. Little else matters until that is changed.
An onslaught of cheaper laborers into America is a reason that not ONE American voted Trump. I’ll bet that 75 of these 100 “Republicans” voted with the criminal, Rotten Clinton, as did H.W. Bush.

If they become citizens, they will no longer have to be cheap labor. Serve the cheapskate bosses right and level the employment competition field. Probably force the new citizens to move to the market where their skills are currently in short supply as at the same skill level our current citizens will probably be more popular hires.
