Florida leftists attack ex-Gator wearing MAGA hat
Fox News ^ | July 9,2019 | Todd Starnes

Posted on 07/09/2019 7:45:20 AM PDT by Hojczyk

The latest attack involved a former member of the University of Florida football team in Gainesville, Florida.

Daniel Weldon, 22, was celebrating the Fourth of July with his friend when he was accosted and assaulted by a rowdy group of seven men and women.

Weldon, who is chairman of the Florida Federation of College Republicans, tells me he was decked out in patriotic garb – an American flag shirt, a Trump pin and a MAGA hat.

“My girlfriend had warned me earlier that night that someone would attack me for wearing my MAGA hat to a college bar,” he said.

It’s always wise to be cautious, but Weldon is a former linebacker for the Florida Gators. What kind of a pinhead would attack a 6-foot-2-inch man, 230-pound Deplorable?

Well, it turns out the pinheads were a bunch of pajama boy liberals and their pink-hat wearing gal pals.

Weldon described what happened in a now-viral Facebook post. He said the gaggle of liberals surrounded him inside the Pita Pit restaurant and began yelling. At some point, the girls became aggressive and then violent.

“The 4 or 5 girls start pushing me and punching,” he wrote on Facebook.

“I’m a former college linebacker so I can take a hit and it’s not a big deal.” But then, the Mean Girls made a crucial mistake.

“One snatched my hat and tried to throw it away while another ripped my pin and tossed it,” he wrote.

Folks, there’s a hard and fast rule in life. You never tug on Superman’s cape and you never swipe an American patriot’s MAGA hat.

He said he filed a police report after the incident but was disheartened to hear the police officer say it’s not the first time a Trump supporter has been attacked in Gainesville.

There’s not a lot of incumbency in the mayors’ office.

He must’ve been a walk on. I’ve never heard of him. Unfortunately like many college towns, Gainesville leans decidedly Left of center. A generation ago when I went it was not as pronounced. There were a lot more legacy’s and true native Floridians at UF. Since then the academic profile has continued to rise (it was already tough to get into then) which is good but the nature of the student body has changed. They are clearly richer than we were. Now you see a lot of kids from South Florida whose parents are not from Florida and who may not have even lived in Florida themselves before high school. They’re from upper middle class and wealthy families, went to elite prep schools, had excellent tutors, etc.

It took a while but it finally started dawning on a lot of them that $5000 annual in state tuition for a top 10 public university/around #35 overall university was a vastly better deal than spending about $40,000 per year for say Georgetown which is academically equivalent or even more for the Ivy League. Yeah you may earn more with a degree from Yale, but if you have to live in a place like the Northeast with its much higher cost of living and if you have to spend literally 10X as much, are you ever going to recoup the difference? No way. UF is a much better financial deal.

Unfortunately, a lot of today’s carpetbagger students aren’t particularly loyal to the university.

Gainesville is a cesspool of liberalism...........

And a shockingly large population of bums. The first major Gainvesille road I hit when travelling from Jax often has 2-3 bums panhandling. Welcome to Gainesville.

Had a nice talk with a man wearing a MAGA hat at Peet’s Coffee yesterday...in Oakland, of all places. Thankfully no one gave him any crap about it.

You got that right...and unfortunately my daughter who lives there is one of them. Had 3 kids...she’s the only liberal one. She moved to Florida right out of high school attended Fla. St. And a liberal Jr. College in Gainesville. Visited her in May and can’t mention Trump or anything close without an argument. It’s frustrating.

There used to be an old timer from the OSS days that taught the boys how to fight with a knife. He used to wear gold jewelry into bad neighborhoods just trolling for fun, I was told.

South Park PC episode is now real life. Sad reality. I’ve been forced to leave a few bars and I’m in Dallas because of being conservative usually because of crazy Marxist feminist women that have the bartender and or bouncer on their side.

Sad that I don’t trust the police for a second as they will protect the left almost every time.
