MOUNT PLEASANT TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Police said the largest fentanyl bust in Pennsylvania history took place Monday morning along the turnpike in Westmoreland County.
Troopers pulled over a car driven by Juan Gomez, of New York, when he failed to move over for a turnpike vehicle with its lights on in Mount Pleasant Township.
During a search of the car, police discovered a hidden compartment behind the center console. Inside it, they found 3.5 pounds of fentanyl.
"This is what youd see out of a movie. That package would go to an area where it was cut with different agents, cut over and over again to where thats over $1 million worth of street value in a 3.5-pound package," State Trooper Steve Limani said.
Police believe the fentanyl was headed to Pittsburgh, where it would be distributed and sold on the streets of western Pennsylvania.

Make him test it to see how much it takes to cause an overdose.
I frequently see what must be drug busts on I-95. 6-8 troopers behind a nice new car.
These guys are so stupid. Load a car with illegal herbs and spices than drive like an idiot.
“During a search of the car”
Hope they did this by the book. Would hate to see this guy let off because they did not follow procedure.

Yeah, sure........
Any Leftist judge could find a reason to declare the search improper.
See SC Justice Roberts recent examples re: Obamacare and 2020 Census.

This is an act of terrorism on an entire region. A weapon of mass destruction, in my opinion. This person needs to be interrogated like a terrorist until he gives up absolutely everything he knows about the people he works for and deals with.
Well,New York via Guatemala....
Gee Wally, I wonder what what border those drugs come in here over?
Now, lets think real hard about that...
Headed to Pittsburgh, eh? Nothing new under the sun apparently.
Henry Hill and Jimmy Burke had their own ‘Pittsburgh connection’ running drugs in the 1970’s (re: Goodfellas).
Have been watching this series on Netflix called Dope. Very eye opening.

Wonder if Senior Gomez had one of those NY “illegal alien” drivers licenses? Certainly drives like one. Failure to yield to a police vehicle with it’s lights on? Here’s your “dum@ss award”, bub!
It is amazing how local cops seem to know what vehicle in thousands of vehicles to pull over for a massive drug bust.
We are long time customers of and know a guy who provides professional cleaning and maintenance services to home owners and institutions.
One early morning he was on the road to service one of his big time customers in a semi remote area. Traffic was very heavy on the two lane road with people driving to work in the area he was going in his White ford van.
He hears a siren and looks up in his mirror, and 3 local cop cars (the total force) are behind him. He pulls over and later hears what sounds like breaking glass, (more on this later).
One cop car pulls behind him, one pulls along side of him and one pulls over in front and backs up penning him in. That was when he heard the braking of glass.
One of the cops asks him if he was aware that his right taillight was out. He said no.
They asked where he was going and in the meantime a sheriff’s Canine unit car pulls up behind him. The deputy gets out and has the dog on a leash and walks the dog around and the dog sits down after the walk around.
Again, they ask him where he was going and what he was doing, he told them to call his customer who was waiting. They, did, and they released him and told him to have a good day.
About an hour later, he finished his work and was driving back to the main road. When, he saw a White Van pulled over by the same 3 cop cars and the sheriff’s canine unit. The dog was watching two guys laying face down with the hand cuffs on. There were piles of white and black plastic bags on the ground by the side of the van.
Two days later the local paper had pictures of the other white van and 2 guys laying belly down with their wrists.
It was big drug bust. Somehow the cops knew that this White Ford Van was involved.
We have seen two similar situations in our city. One about 6 months ago, what appeared to be an amigo on the ground between the side walk and the road by his open trunk loaded with white and brown plastic bags and many on the ground. A dog was watching the amigo like he was an appetizer. His car was surrounded the one above and he was about 50’ from a busy 3 way street across from a 7~11. He apparently stopped for coffee or something. This again was during a busy rush hour.
The most recent one was a couple of months ago on a fairly busy street off of a really busy street across from a parking lot. A recent White Ford big pickup was pulled over with the 3 cop cars blocking. A guy was on his knees with his hands cuffed in his back of his head sitting on the sidewalk with a dog watching.
Just before we drove by, another K9 jumped out of the pickup and over a fence and a big white guy just grinned and assumed the position as the dog pointed at him like quail in the wild. My wife noticed that the right tail light on the pickup was busted.
So how did these local cops in these areas know which vehicle to pull over. We probably have thousands of White Vans and pickups in this area. How did they have busted tail lights on the right rear sides?
It is really amazing!
Every ONE of those illegals have brand new back packs that are close to full of .....
Juan Gomez??? I wonder if this is one of the vaunted “dreamers” or a wonderful illegal alien invader merely seeking “a better life”.

Pretty stupid indeed. Dad used to question if some of these were due to undercover sources and they just followed the car until they made a mistake. Simple driving infraction to stop them and let the K9 justify the rest.
You summarize exactly what my dad used to suspect. That they had a tip-off on which car to watch for. Then they could get “Creative” to make the stop and have the K9 ready to make the bust.
He was just a mule for one of the Mexican cartels and 3.5 pounds is no BFD. In the mid ‘80’s my personal lawyer and friend was hired to defend an indigent Colombian national who was arrested on I-95 in Maryland with fifty or so pounds of 95% pure coke. My friend got the accused to make a plea deal with the feds to serve twenty years without ratting out anyone above him. The Colombian cartel who hired my friend was extremely happy with the result and paid a healthy fee. My friend said he would never take a case like that again no matter how much he was going to be paid.
