I agree, mostly. But one of the reasons I imagine for statutory rape charges is that young people don’t have the mental capacity to understand the long term effects of their decisions. It is easy for them to be lured into sex with the offer of free beer and a joint. Just imagine the lure of going on private planes with famous people to a fancy island with champagne and cocaine.

I think if they can get plan b and birth control and go to planned parenthood without involving their parents, society has already decided to treat them as adults.
We either need to as a society stop treating them as adults when they are not and allow them and schools to legally bypass parents, or we need to treat them as adults and as such, let them be responsible for their own poor decisions.

Correct. A young person doesn’t have the maturity to make life altering decisions. And being sexual and with who is most definitely life altering decisions.
Of course there is a gamble it won’t result in lifelong results that includes pregnancy, health concerns, or more horrible consequences.
They may thank they can understand. But that is a decision a young person’s life isn’t developed enough to truly comprehend. Like any other legal binding contract.

All young people realize certain actions and behaviors brings rewards. When society encourages this, it brings emotional problems to an immature mind. Many young people have been lured into that. The result is always disastrous to all involved.
These girls were mostly very young and poor. They were groomed for this by Epstein and his ilk.
