What is it about American Jews, Marxism/Communism, and so-called 'liberalism'? The idea that the Soviets saved the Jews from the Nazi's, or that Nazi's and Marxists/Communists are at opposite poles of the political spectrum is inane and destructive. I have a Jewish background, and I entirely understand the motivation to prevent the conditions that led to the Holocaust from happening again. That said, supporting the left is MORE likely to lead to that, not less. Anti-Semitism is rampant in socialist Europe.
The 'Treaty of Non-Aggression' that the USSR and Nazi Germany entered into before the war agreed to split Poland in two, and give several Baltic nations to the USSR. It's only after Hitler betrayed the USSR and invaded that the Soviet's entered the war. They didn't enter the war to 'free' Europe.
