Going To Austin Texas next week - Need Travel Advice (Vanity Post)

Posted on 07/03/2019 9:01:51 AM PDT by MplsSteve

Next weekend the wife and I are gonna be in Austin Texas for a long weekend.

I've looked at Austin's tourism website and have gotten a few ideas - but I also like to know what Freepers like to do or see when they're in the area.

We're looking at a trip to Berdoll Pecan in Bastrop, maybe a trip to the LBJ National Historic Park, maybe visit the Texas State Cemetery.

I'm not a huge fan of live music. I don't mind it. It's just not a priority for me. The wife and I love BBQ and would take any good suggestions.

Any suggestions, recommendations, accommodation suggestions, etc would be greatly appreciated.

Well, thanks to the libtards purportedly in charge, you can now camp legally out in the streets, as long as it’s not at City Hall and public parks. How utterly convenient.

Are you going to camp out on the streets, now that that’s legal?

Are you going there for business and just want to know what to do while you’re there? I live in Texas and Austin is a place I never go to. The music is about all it is known for, aside from being the Berkeley of Texas. I would go to Fredericksburg instead.

There is a bridge that enters downtown over the Colorado river

Go to that bridge at dusk, and over 1,000,000 bats launch for the night from under that bridge. It is amazing, and it is free entertainment.

You will see people lining up on the bridge to watch, so you will know you are in the right place.

I am not a fan of bats, but it was an unforgettable power of nature moment.

Don’t wear a MAGA hat. If you do, make sure you’re packin’.

Bring your own firearms, ammo, food, water and hazmat suit, complete with 02 generator. And you should probably make the trip in a truck or RV outfitted with a decontamination station.

Avoid Martin Luther King Hwy 183 like the plague. Unless you’re into muggings and stray bullets.
