I remember once on a business trip to Austin that I skipped breakfast, lunch was provided, and so I had my whole day's per diem for dinner so I asked about a good steak place, being in Texas and all. They recommended a place and I ordered a T-bone (medium rare) and it was...disappointing. Oh well.
The liberals in Austin were already keeping it weird when I was a teen in the late 60’s-and when I was living outside SA, going to college in the early 70’s, my friends and I would go to Austin on weekends sometimes to go to the bars, listen to the music and look at the weird people-all tourist attractions.
There were bumper stickers for sale in the head shops there that said ‘keep Austin weird” with a pot leaf on them-and of course no trip to Austin was complete without a weekend afternoon visit to Barton Springs-and the clothing optional swimming hole called Hippie Hollow-where you could mingle with the unclothed and stoned bathers-and buy a joint or two to smoke from one of several vendors if you were so inclined-it was always an interesting trip-pun intended...
The homeless stuff does not surprise me-it was bound to happen sooner or later-but we really should get a petition together to get gov Abbot to move the capitol city designation elsewhere in the state-either that or put a moat around the state capitol and other state govt buildings to keep the homeless from camping there...
Didn’t the governor say he wasn’t going to allow this to happen?
I remember the pod people fiasco they had in Tucson a few years ago. The lead actor this give homeless people plywood boxes to sleep in and put them all over the city sidewalks. It took two years to get rid of them end it only happened because all of the downtown business owners ready to lynch the dumb SOB then let them do it.
Austin may be weirder (I know the place well), but Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio are not what I call bastions of conservatism.
Which of these places will be the first hit by an epidemic caused by allowing their streets to be used as a toilet? So, unhygenic, gross and disgusting.
Looks like they all think the smell of raw sewage running in the gutters is a good thing...
