Losharik will be towed for repairs to Zvezdochka, at the first stage, water will be pumped out of the device and the defective titanium case and internal premises will be replaced.

Specialists of the Central Design Bureau of marine equipment “Rubin”, that developed part of the equipment, and “Sevmash” the manufacturer of the vessel will be involved in the repair.

According to preliminary estimates, the systems of the deep-sea vehicle suffered significant damage. The fire seriously damaged electronic equipment, automation, acoustic and navigation equipment, and life support systems.

My comment: This will be very costly and take a long time. Will it be ready 2021 or 2022?

Why were the wages that much higher? I can see ‘double’... but this goes way beyond that...

The equipment is very expensive, the training as well and the Russian Navy want to reduce the risk that they will retire from their job that is very dangerous. (How many have died during training?) A high salary reduces the probability that some of them talks about their job.

Three submarines of the Russian Navy Novorossiysk, Rostov-on-Don and Stary Oskol carrying Kalibr cruise missiles were (are?) equipped with old Soviet batteries instead of imported, due to sanctions. This reduces their operating time under water to 48 - 72 h, instead of 5 days. This was noticed when they were based in Syria.

A good summary and a piece of new info:

Losharik will likely be returned to service. In the meantime BS-64 has been exercising with a smaller battery powered submersible attached to her back, possibly as a surrogate. The ‘state secret’ missions will go on.

“The AS-31 deep-sea vehicle was delivered to Zvezdochka for repair. The volumes of repair work and their duration will become clear after the defect of the damaged special submarine has been detected,” the agency’s source said.
https://tass.ru/armiya-i-opk/7073461

However, this indicates that it might take time:

A court ordered the Russian Ministry of Defense to repay its debt to the Zvyozdochka Ship Repair Center for its work on BS-64. For almost two years, Losharik and other stations had no carrier, until the BS-64 suburban Moscow submarine was launched. Zvezdochka spent 12 years on its modernization.

and updates on Belgorod and Poseidon
http://www.hisutton.com/Belgorod-Class-Submarine.html

Vladimir Putin's Russia is indeed seriously going to deploy a new leg to its nuclear triad, the unmanned underwater nuclear-powered Poseidon. A multi-billion storage and maintenance facility at the Kola Peninsula will be up and running by June 2022, aimed at serving at least 30 such drones.

“Poseidon is also an example of Russia's ability to take risks and experiment with new technologies, such as unmanned autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, directed energy weapons and others with the objective to incrementally amplify existing symmetric and asymmetric capabilities,”

MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. The Belgorod special-purpose nuclear submarine will serve in the Pacific Ocean after passing state trials and commissioning, a source close to Defense Ministry told TASS.

“According to preliminary information, the Belgorod submarine will serve in the Pacific Ocean after commissioning. However, it would be able to perform missions in any location of the World Ocean,” he said.

Earlier, a TASS source revealed that the Belgorod would enter state trials in May 2021. Another source disclosed that, in addition to the Poseidon nuclear drones, the submarine will carry the AS-15 deep-sea nuclear station.

5 Ways The Russian Navy Could Target Undersea Internet Cables

Few corners of the submarine world are seen as sneakier than covert operations against undersea communications cables. It is estimated that 97% of global communications are transmitted by undersea cables. This includes trillions of dollars of financial transactions. These cables have been described as 'Indispensable but insecure'. They are thought to be particularly vulnerable to the Russian Navy's seabed warfare platforms. And it is not just internet traffic which could be under threat, but energy infrastructure, military communications and sensor networks.
