The odd part is that of the 14 that died, 7 of them were Captain first rank (approx colonel) and two were heroes of Russia. Were they really in the vessel AS-12/Losharik, and if that was the case why?

Thanks for posting this info. I am very puzzled by all that brass on one boat. It could be as simple as taking the opportunity to go to sea on a joy ride, or it could be more sinister. They don’t look to be technical guys. Very curious situation.

Yeah, I was thinking that as well.. And what the heck is there to burn on a sub anyways.?? And it's not like there's a shortage of water or nothing..:)
But seriously, on a boat capable of deaths of 3.7 miles below the surface and you had a desperate need to exchange the air I'd say you would be in BIG trouble...
But what do I know about subs... I was regular army.. :)
