The Dalai Lama, the exiled spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, and the 14th person to hold the title, made waves this week when he said his successor, if a woman, needs to be physically attractive.
“You once said that you would be open to a female successor,” BBC News reporter Rajini Vaidyanathan asked the religious leader, in a video interview published Thursday on Twitter.

Some teachers of Zen and Buddhist faiths have been known to say or do shocking things just to shake the listener up and make them pay attention to the moment. Maybe that’s what he was attempting here, knowing full well the young lady reporter expected him to say pretty much the exact opposite.
This is also a common approach to advanced martial arts for some Sensei.

The Lama is bald and striking. His flowing robes enhance his appearance. A female Lama likewise should be attractive.

Every time I watch local news I see one attractive woman news anchor after another. Especially the weather girl. And as I recall, every comic book female super hero in the movies is attractive. And all of the Bond girls were attractive. I really do not think anyone really cares about the Lama or Tibet or the new Lama...if there is to be one. At least if it is a pretty female, it will give the new age ladies an excuse to get posters of the “chic” in the various crystal healing new age stores.
