Enjoy the higher gas prices, suckers.

With that high of a road tax, California must have the best roads in the USA!

Why only 6 cents? I thought Californians wanted to save the planet. They are acting a bit stingy here.

Pennsylvania is also a purple state but has the highest gas tax in the nation at 54 center per gallon. We STILL have the crappiest roads in the nation, but told us it would be used to fix them. Yeah, right.
It is the main reason Tom Corbett was a single term GOP governor, being voted out in 2014.

Tom Corbett was a crook...
He started the investigation that smeared Joe Paterno as Attorney General and then was the judge as he automatically was on the Penn State Board of Trustees as Governor.
His interim job between Attorney General and Governor was in-house legal counsel for Waste Management... Need I say more.
I discovered a very large fraud during an investigation I was doing when Slick Eddie Rendell was Governor and I prepared the file to turn over to Corbett as Attorney General for investigation. I researched Corbett’s background first and threw the entire file into the incinerator as I did not want to get caught between two corrupt politicians.

and continue to increase indefinitely starting next year to keep up with the California Consumer Price Index. From the FAQ https://www.dir.ca.gov/OPRL/CPI/faqs.htm#q6
Q6. What goods and services does the CPI cover?
TRANSPORTATION (new vehicles, airline fares, gasoline, motor vehicle insurance);
Also included within these major groups are various government-charged user fees, such as water and sewage charges, auto registration fees, and vehicle tolls. The CPI also includes taxes (such as sales and excise taxes) that are directly associated with the prices of specific goods and services.
