Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren on Wednesday sought to explain her controversial decision to list herself as a Native American in a directory of law professors for nearly a decade before getting a job at Harvard Law School and said she is absolutely qualified for her job. ...
According to a Boston area's genealogist report [URL link here given by CBS News is now gone], Warren is 1/32 Cherokee.
Warren said she was "very proud" of her heritage and "very proud of the stories that my grandparents told me that my grandparents told my parents and my prents told my brothers and me."
"Being Native American is part of who our family is and I'm glad to tell anyone about that. I am just proud of it," Warren said.
The candidate said Wednesday that she had never asked her relatives for documentation of her lineage, but when questioned by reporters if she regretted self-identifying as Native American she recounted a story about her family's history with the culture.
"No, as I said, these are my family stories. I have lived in a family that has talked about Native Americans, talked about tribes since I was a little girl," she said. "I still have a picture on my mantel and it is a picture my mother had before that - a picture of my grandfather. And my Aunt Bea has walked by that picture at least a 1,000 times remarked that he - her father - my Papaw -- had high cheek bones like all of the Indians do.

So what history then does she have with Native American culture?
Did Elizabeth Warren engage in racial stereotyping concerning Native Americans by saying they all have high cheekbones?
What if someone said they have African, Hispanic or Asian in them based upon what they said is this or that so-called physical trait?
Maybe he just didn’t have any teeth.
she never gives up
Racial stereotyping of the most blatant and grotesque variety.
If Trump had said anything like this, they’d be screaming bloody murder.
She DID have an ancestor who was one of the white guards on the Tsalagi people who were forced marched on the Trail of Tears...That IS a Fact!!!!!
The test SUGGESTED she may be as much as 1/32nd Native or South American, NOT 1/32nd Cherokee.
She a typical lying democrat.
She’ll die a nasty liar.
On her application to the TX bar, she declared herself a a north American Indian. She’s just like DaNangDick from CT. White trash.
Plenty of women in politics and entertainment trade on their gender. For Warren, that isnt nearly enough. She had to lie about being a Native American, too, until caught at it. Then she voluntarily took the test and was found wanting. But so long as people ask her about, shell to do her best to associate herself with them through her family stories without identifying as one.
See what happens? We know shes a fraud but wishful liberals will identify with the little girl who believed she had a mysterious, Native-American ancestry.
There is a family legend that a great grandmother on my father’s side was Cherokee. We weren’t embarrassed about that or anything, but I never tried passing myself off as Native American, either.
Doesnt Warren look exactly like someone in a minority.
What a poster child for it...
NOT!
Here is Warren’s 32%:
Breitbart News first reported in 2012 that Sen. Elizabeth Warrens (D-MA) great-great-great grandfather Jonathan Crawford was a member of the Tennessee Militia that rounded up Cherokees living there at the time for the Trail of Tears journey to Oklahoma in the 1830s.
This gives Warren a 1/32, or 3.125 percent, Tennessee Militia heritage, at least double the maximum 1.56 percent, minimum 0.1 percent, Native American heritage Dr. Carlos Bustamante said the evidence in the DNA genotypes purported to come from Warrrens DNA sample strongly suggests in his October 10, 2018 report released by Sen. Warren on Monday.
Espera Oscar diConti (left), 100% Italian. Also known as Iron Eyes Cody, he made a career out of potraying Indians, and claimed Native ancestry and tribal membership. His sister cleared that up after his death.
How about those cheekbones, though?
She’s still trying to keep up the story despite being proven wrong.
Sort of like the Democrats writ large with Russia,Russia,Russia.
The DNA markers were, basically, generalizable to western hemisphere native Americans at no more than 1/32nd (not 32%); they were not specifically linked to Cherokee. Moreover, she has only one such ancestor in the past 6-10 generations. She played the Affirmative Action cars well, but she is not a Native American in any usual sense.
She’s going to regret dredging all that up again. There is no way that she didn’t receive hiring preference on the basis of that erroneous claim, and there’s ample evidence that she knew it was bogus before then. It’ll come out and Trump will have an absolute field day with it, as well he should.
All of her statements, especially the ‘All Idians have high cheekbones’ quip will be used to hammer her.
Right...I misquoted...1/32nd instead of 32%...My bad....
I think every time we see a leftist defending Warren on this topic (and I’ve seen tons of them), we need to call them out on not really believing in affirmative action or the idea of helping minorities out (according to their own rhetoric). How can they believe in helping Native Americans if they are all in support of a white woman taking an academic position where a Native American was preferred?
I think we need to be much more explicit in calling leftists hypocrites, because honestly you’d be hard-pressed to find a more generally hypocritical group of people. They embody almost everything they claim to fight against.
