It is difficult to pander to people who will always have their hands out for more. A conservative would not have this problem, as the conservative would be on the side of law-abiding people. Poor Buttgig has to try to maintain a semblance of law and order while kissin’ him some black hiney. It’s really funny.
Blacks are not particularly accepting of homosexuality. They will be a problem for him. A BIG problem.

I was listening to Hugh Hewitt this morning, and he had a guest on who was some sort of pollster or analyst or something and he stated something very fundamental about Democrats.
Since the 1976 or so (when they first had numbers) no democrat has won the democratic nomination without winning the black vote in the Primary.
Based on this Powder Puff Pete, was not likely to be the nominee (which I believed anyway, thought he was just building up some name and donor networking for a 2024 run). But based on his handling of this situation, its obvious he’s not ready for prime time, and definitely is going nowhere this cycle.... and probably can kiss 2024 goodbye as well.
Given the black population is still probably the one of the most anti gay groups in the US.. short of a massive attitude shift between now and 2024, he’s got no chance then either.

To be fair, most town mayors are just figure heads cutting ribbons and speechifying. The city manager is usually the one with administrative power. There’s not much this particular morally confused mayor can do other than listen and say sorry.
How many south bend voters are really talking about this? What matters is that the media is reporting on it. If the media is reporting anything negative on you at this point in the campaign you are toast because the media has decided against you.
